I thought Capra was pretty easy as a mage. 4 kings tho...

ZOMG, and O&S!!

After a few playthroughs, O&S aren't that difficult imo. Just requires patience and picking your spots.

Four Kings still the toughest boss in the game imo.

I'm still pretty much unable to beat Four Kings without anything that's not a tank character. Have had a dex guy and a sorcerer stuck on that boss fight forever lol.

I'm really really really not trying to brag here, so don't read this that way, but I'm really shocked by most of the comments I'm seeing here. I'm not a good gamer at all, and I feel like people on this forum get pretty elite at some of these games (maybe they just left this thread ), but I haven't struggled with like anything you guys have been talking about. Just recently beat the game with a no-shield character and didn't really struggle on anything. Sure, O&S took 5-10 tries, but I never really felt stuck. 4K took 2 tries (maybe 3?). That fire tree dude took a bunch because it's just ******ed, but it wasn't a skill thing, just needed to keep slamming my head into that wall.

/rant?

I was hopelessly stuck on OandS for weeks. 4 Kings is easy so long as you can do enough damage. I didn't even learn their attack patterns just got in there and hacked away when I got the chance.
The chaos Witch would have been impossible if I couldn't summon help and even then it was touch and go. Gwyn was easier then I expected, I just had to keep my distance and crossbow him to death.
I was a tankish build and after grinding souls for O&S probably over levelled for the latter bosses.

4K was tough with a no shield playthrough. You really have to learn to time your rolls, and if you stay in the right position you can get a bunch of hits in consecutively.

I think those that have played a low level char or a no shield playthrough are the ones that have little to no proiblem with bosses. It forces you to really learn the diff attacks and how to avoid them it takes more time but at the end you dont struggle or get stuck as much.

The tank builds just plow through the game pretty much because they rely on levels more than being forced to learn how to counter. Tank builds and ranged builds are the ones that gets stuck more often when just levels isnt enough and 4k is a good example of that. the toortoise beats most of the game but some bosses require you to be the hare.

Int builds destroy 4K with the right strat, it's the "wtf, why didn't I think of that" type of strat. Unless you haven't visited Logan in the archives.

I won't spoil it unless you want me to. I've tried to resist the urge to post this stuff ITT cause I know that's part of the fun in this game.

True, the game becomes one of the easiest once you learn every little thing about combat and each enemy. But I think that's one of the best things about it, and the sign of a (almost) pure skill game. Bed of Chaos might be an exception, but I think we all agree that we don't want more bosses like that.

I didn't mind Bed of Chaos as a boss, just didn't like it being the last boss of that area, pretty underwhelming.

I've never had problems with 4K in an NG run, probably because I'm overlevelled by the time I fight them. I was able to brute force my way through each time, standing there and hitting them, chugging a flask when health gets low.

Ya, their attacks are (on average) weaker than just about any boss. They seem to have a bigger boost NG -> NG+ than any other boss though, especially health wise.

Yeah, one of the hardest no shield bosses.

4K was really hard on my mage playthrough cuz I had to go there directly after Anor Londo, which meant no good spells.

Spoiler:

4K becomes relatively easy on NG after enough tries. If you have their moves down you can be fairly cautious and afford a few mistakes.

NG+ though. Ugh. The time constraint makes it the hardest boss in the game by far.

Now I'm stuck in the painted world. Decided to attack Priscilla this time and find out the bitch turns invisible. I can get a lucky hit or two in but she's destroying me, My spell caster isn't built for this **** I've got a rapier I need a weapon with a nice big arc.

new spells look awesome, and overall it looks like the Dark Souls we all know and love, I could do without a ton of areas that require a torch to light up, but I won't hold it against them if there are

The snow is the key to this fight but yeah not being able to lock on as a caster sucks.

It feels like the dark will be used as like transitions between areas so i dont think there will be to much of it.

New build raped O&S in three tries I just kept casting homing soul mass and running away. I could have probably killed S then O if id tried.
One nice little touch I noticed is that if you jump off the platform in Fire Link shrine and land on the apprentice he gives under your weight and emits a little yelp.
