To add, one thing that always bothered me was lack of optimal build diversity. Basically like there was no point to going with a high strength or high dex build. It's just too easy to get your damage up with lightning weapons or whatever and pump vit/end. I started to make other types of characters but then I was like "wait why the f--- am I putting points in [insert non vit/end attribute here] when damage is easy to get and I can increase survivability?"
I like this.
To add also, can they make it so that a big bulky warrior character can move quickly when not in combat? I think making a tank would be fun, but walking at 1/4 speed does not make the game enjoyable.
Add a couple more kill animations to backstabs per weapon class, after a while they become much less satisfying as you've done them so many times. Possibly add dismemberment/decapitation animations for certain enemies, little far in between flourishes to add another level of awesome to combat. The flailing animations of the gollums when you boom em off of high ledges in Blighttown was always fun, would like to see more small touches like that.
Dammit reading all this has me stoked on this game again, I can't get the update to get the DLC without getting the same error every time, bah.

Japanese versions of games have actually had dismemberment censored out of them so I wouldn't expect this since it's a Japanese made game.
All I would like to see is better overall performance (ugh Blight Town) and more interesting armor selection. The armor was quite boring in the game and for me it simply came down to a simple - what's the strongest piece I can equip that will keep me at 1/4rd burden. More equipment special effects could have been a lot of fun.
I do agree that certain stats like endurance were somewhat more critical than other stats, but I never felt like the stat system was at all broken. Like in D2, and most any game, most players will eventually come to a consensus on the strongest builds and a lot of players will simply copy those - but alternative builds are still entirely plausible and playable. A smough's hammer build might not be the trendiest, but you'll still be able to get a kill or 50 with it.
Yeah, they need to at the least implement armor that boosts/detracts from certain stats.
I dunno, this kinda thing can lead to clearly optimal character builds. I like how in dark souls there's a huge range of armor that a build can viably equip.

Huge range that always came down to one decision for every build: Which armor gives me max poise while not exceeding 1/4 equip burden (1.5) or 1/2 (since 1.6).

Yeah this was how I felt. Usually there was one clearly superior armor choice depending on your strength level to get under 25% equip burden.

Well it depends on how many points you've got in endurance at any particular level, what armours you have and how much you can upgrade them. Plus you can viably play at 25-50% equip burden. It's only when you go over 50 that the speed, agility and stamina regen hits become too big.
There's a new article and interview in the latest Edge Mag discussing Dark Souls 2.
-Miyazaki (guy behind Dark Souls, Demon Souls and the later Armored Cores) was was forced off of the series by the company. His supervisory role will mean little to no input in the actual content of the game, but more managerial stuff. The company has stated explicitly that their intention is to take the game in a different direction.
-Story will be a sequel but will not take not take place in Lordran.
-Player exploration from the beginning will be restricted to clarify things for the player.
-Story will be more straight forward and directed - rather than the subtle unraveling of Dark Souls.
-They want to keep things 'fresh'. One idea along this line was to add vehicles to the game.. ... .... ......................
Dark Souls 2 may yet be a good game, but it seems like Namco has made a conscious decision to try to bring Dark Souls to a more casual audience. We'll see how that works out for them.
There is some good news though. They're not just stuffing Miyazaki in a closet. He's working on an entirely new IP so hype++++ for that.
Honestly I'm ok with all those points (except vehicles ldo...). I really got no pleasure from the unnecessarily hard/anti-introductory stuff my first time through. Walling off that left catacombs/side for a little while for example wouldn't have hurt the game at all imo and possibly helped. I predict some will disagree with me on this, but thats obv.
Story stuff you really can't have an opinion on until the games released.
