the only good miracle reah sells is wrath of the gods and maybe great heal if you're that way inclined.

imo the only good miracles come from the warrior of sunlight covenant

Faith build seems so underpowered for so long. Seems like it only gets good in the later stages of the game.

Just coincidentally started replaying this game. Not into pvp, but just got the urge to make a solid char and pound some bad guys. I've never gotten a DLC for a game before. What's the deal here, start a new char and there will be new things along the way? New endgame content that I should finish the game first to get to?

it takes the form of an area you can get to after beating the hydra/crystal golem in darkroot basin. i won't spoil anything by revealing much more but i believe it ties in with the darkroot garden/oolacile lore. no new endgame content afaik but looks pretty awesome and will pad out a new playthrough by a ton more hours i imagine.

Not a ton, at least for experienced ds players. I think it took me around 6-7 hours to explore everything and finish it. But its definitely worth it no doubt...

I am quickly reminded of my prior complaints of offensive imbalances. You go all defense/survival, and then you end up dominating on both the offensive and defensive fronts because oh whoops you made a +10 lightning zwei.

**** YES!!

I absolutely love the souls games, and even though I was sure we'd get a sequel at some point, I'm still surprised at how excited I was to see this announcement. I feel like a little kid at Christmas.

Praise the (land of the rising) sun!

Also, time to start refreshing EpicNameBro's YT channel every 2 minutes until he has a vid breaking down every last frame of that trailer.

You mad? That would be way too long of a wait.

Some fans freaking, it's a little disconcerting, but too early and too little information to spaz imo.

I imagine it has to be incredibly tempting to try to create the same game but work to make it more approachable by a wider audience! In spite of how incredibly well received the game was, wiki is referencing Namco Bandai's financials as putting the games US/EU sales at 'just' 1.19million. I imagine that was a large part of the formula that resulted in Ninja Gaiden 3 or even Diablo 3. I'll keep the faith for now. Looking forward to new news on it!

As long as they keep the difficulty I'm cool with anything.

I think there are things in the game that could have been made more accessible. Took me a while of playing to even know simple things like the uses for humanity. They can def make it more accessible to a wider audience while keeping the difficulty as high as it was.

Part of the difficulty lies in how the game tells you nothing except the basics of controlling your character. That may have been a good design decision though as it brought the player community together. As there was no information in the game, people naturally looked to forums and wikis for guidance, sharing what they'd discovered plus war stories.

This ****ing game, you get hit once and you die that's the only difficult part of it. There's no room for error.

Crazy how much people read into a couple of vague quotes.

Yeah but you also have to look at it the other way. Why are the guys in charge making such comments? They know how it's going to sound and they're using a lot of the same sort of terms that were being swung around prior to Diablo 3 while that's still fresh in everybody's mind. You gotta imagine they're not just trolling their fanbase so it kind of makes you wonder what they're doing, let alone thinking.

I'm still cautiously optimistic, but the only reason I have the 'cautiously' part in there is because of their comments.

What improvements would you guys like to see in the sequel?

For me, I think having the covenants be slightly more significant would be an improvement. It just seemed on my playthroughs as a Wanderer and Mage that they didn't really have any significant effect on my character.

A deeper list of magic spells would be nice as well. Give yourself a few more options with Mage or Pyromancer other than {Keep range, Soul Arrows or Fireballs, Repeat}

I think they can do a lot with the significance of different weapons and different armors. There were a ton of options of what weapons and armor to choose, but I ended up usually sticking with my original kit with a few exceptions. I think the weapon/armor selection can be pared down a bit (get rid of having 60 hollow soldier helms halfway through the game) but give the character more of a choice in attributes to help/hurt.

I like your points Zimmer.

To add, one thing that always bothered me was lack of optimal build diversity. Basically like there was no point to going with a high strength or high dex build. It's just too easy to get your damage up with lightning weapons or whatever and pump vit/end. I started to make other types of characters but then I was like "wait why the f--- am I putting points in [insert non vit/end attribute here] when damage is easy to get and I can increase survivability?"
