Two thoughts:

I really hope that was my last time ever fighting Bed of Chaos. It is such a poor fight that it's really hard to comprehend and it's a shame that a game close to perfection has such a flaw. I'm tempted to do 2h no shield run after this 100% run but I hope I'll get busy with getting to know ds2 and ds3 instead.

That mildly annoying moment when you're at vamos and forgot the chaos ember from demon ruins.

Quit/reload and a high stability shield make BoC almost trivial, just annoying.

My strategy is to put the shield in my right hand and 2-hand it. Run left, roll into the branches, set the left branch free. Quit. Reload.

Bait out the right branch slow sweep/smash by standing toward the right and away from the circle of stones on the floor. When the slow sweep comes out, you can hug the base and run by, shielding yourself from the smash. This way, you don't have to make a floor jump to get to the second branch. Quit. Reload.

To get the middle, you can bait the sweep/smash, and after the smash, walk off the small platform where the floor breaks. That's your aim point to hit the branch under the BoC. Easy peasy, just time consuming.

Yeah just like with everything in this beautiful game I'm sure there's a way, just sucks having to find out about that yourself. Weev hooked me up with bombing from the middle strategy but I couldn't hit side orbs with them no matter how I aimed it.

I used to hate Crystal Caves and Seath as well now it's also easy peasy whatever.

Bed of Chaos is a bad fight sure but it's actually pretty awesome lore-wise (it's a mother feebly swatting you away from her helpless daughters)

I'm done. 73,5 hours. Last few were rather unenjoyable. Added to best games ever list, abandoning it forever probably. Got 141 hours of pure fun of it. Played first in May 2015, abandoned it for a year and complained here that I can't kill Taurus Demon, rang the first bell, then 3 months later the second one, jesus what a journey.

Been playing through this again, any recommendations for interesting/fun weapons to try? I find myself using Black Knight Sword +5 just like I did the first time I played through this game, and it's hard to get off of it because it's so good (and because any time I try a different un-upgraded weapon I'm like "wtf, this thing is a peashooter that does no damage" compared to the BKS). Happened upon a Crystal Halberd in Anor Londo and kinda liked its moves but then it eventually broke

With 40 dex the Great Scythe you get in catacombs is wicked. My favorite weapon in the game.

Black Knight Halberd but it's not a guaranteed drop.

Zweihander/Claymore?

Just the regular club was what i used the whole way on my first playthrough. It's really good imo. Rolling and jump attacking.

Yes! Having a jump attack with just R2 is amazing. Also I parry a lot and love the club riposte animation.

Wtf this is insane. I know it's a thing people do but I'm not anywhere even close to that lvl and I've put 750 hours minimum between Soulsbore games and that guesstimate is for sure on the low side. Much props.

I probably have around a thousand hours in soulsborne and I was absolutely terrible when I started. I just love the game so much I'm willing to try over and over until I get it right. Start a sl1 character and see how far you can get. O&S took me at least 50 tries.

In ds3 my sl1 char is stuck on Dancer. You have to be almost perfect and her 2nd phase is just wild. In Bloodborne my bl4 char is on Rom the Idiot and its such an annoying fight I haven't played it in a while. But I'll eventually get past it. Shadows of Yarnham at bl4 was tough and I got past that.

I used Cheat Engine to do a 1HP run in NG+. I gave up with Nito and 4 Kings (and the DLC) left in the main world. The upside to 1HP is, you don't take fall damage, since it's percentage based with a floor function. So, 90% of health would be .9 HP, which gets cut to 0. Note, this doesn't mean that you can't fall to your death off bridges.

No-shield runs make for good challenges if you're used to turtling up in combat.

An archer-only run can be a good challenge as well. Range is good, but the damage can be less impactful, although the Leo ring can help since arrows do thrust damage.

One change we've been made aware of is that multiplayer will be expanded to support six concurrent players, which makes sense if the goal is to get Dark Souls' covenant system working a little more smoothly.
Oh lord, the DS1 gank squads are going to be brutal now.

Playing through DS2: SofFS now after replaying 1 and I finally get the complaints somewhat. It feels dead and lifeless compared to the first one. DS1 had me completely engrossed in a second playthrough, even in the areas we hate like Blighttown, but the second one...just feels like I have no connection to it. My memory of DS1 was way sharper too, despite having originally played it (slightly) longer ago.

Is this expected to be the exact same game as the original, or will it be like SotFS where there were some tweaks to enemy placement and item locations, especially with NG+?

That's probably the thing I hated most about ds3, replaying the game offered no new challenges or incentives other than a few upgraded rings.

Nothing like that has been announced, nor with the title remaster do I expect new content. They are moving it to the DS3/Bloodborne engine though and I have no idea what effect that's going to have on the look and feel of the game.
