Yes, I didn't watch the whole video, but the world of DS2 felt more like individuals zones that had often had little to nothing to do with each other. Many of those zones were really cool but in DS1's the world felt more realistic in how it flowed and connected to each other. In DS1 you backtracked a lot as well, in DS2 once you complete a zone you're typically done with it, giving it that more "level" feeling.
It's sorta unfair to hold DS2 to the insanely high standards DS1 set, as everyone says, DS2 is a great game in a vacuum, way better than most games, but it just is impossible to play it without comparing it to DS1.
It's more of a compliment to DS1 than a knock on DS2 really.
