FYI, Keanu is not the main character. He's Johnny Silverhand, a rockstar anarchist that will likely be the main character's guide/mentor to the world. There's an insane amount of lore for Cyberpunk 2020 (the tabletop game that 2077 is based on).
I still have the original RPG book pictured above from approx 1990. This universe is the one that Shadowrun stole pretty hard from. Johnny Mnemonic and others borrowed pretty heavily from this. No weird fantasy stuff, just straight up cyborg futurism in a dystopian future. Linear rpgs are not really my kind of video game but I'll probably give it a shot eventually.

Seeing the OP, I completely forgot the original release date. Now it’s December! It’s for the best though. Needed something to close out the year with!
Man first round of reviews are the expected 10/10s but the actual text of the review is is "buggy as hell, poorly paced, combat is kinda clunky, weird culture stuff".
Actually a couple of big sites are giving it pretty mediocre scores now, god damn it I was really hoping for this to be good
This review is the only true one.
Ignore all the other ones, I think they are all the result of Putin not wanting anyone in the west to have any fun. Lies I tell you, lies.

We could wax lyrical about how good this game is for another ten years, and we still think the conversation would be relevant - so yes, we think Cyberpunk 2077 is the game of the decade. This is an event, and a big moment in gaming, because the brilliant Cyberpunk 2077 is laying down the stepping stones for greater feats in the future.
Am reading and watching a ton of positivity being poured on this game with a few noticeable nay sayers, the nay sayers all seem to have quite subjective problems with the game.
It also worth noting that non of the individual mechanical game play elements of W3 were particularly ground breaking, what made it was the world building, the meatiness of side quests etc, and the writing, from all accounts that is present here in spades.
"Buggy as hell" is a pretty offputting thing. I'd rather wait and play this game in a polished state than play it now and mostly enjoy it but be frustrated with having to quit and restart all the time or something.
I might be able to hold off a week for patching off the most in yer face bugs. I am not pre purchasing, mostly because I am too busy on 10th for time sink, which gives me opportunity to see how the bug/patch chips fall.
