Thijs908...I think the developers of CS:GO are definitely trying to attract the CoD/BF crowd a little bit more because CS has generally been a game where it takes months to get good at instead of just a few days like CoD/BF. They have added a lot of content that will keep the CoD crowd happy and if they accept and like the game, it will just be a bonus for Valve. The competitive scene of 1.6 and Source are what the developers really need to focus on. CSS was a failed attempt to attract 1.6 players because the gameplay was significantly different (not better, not worse, just different). The developers, afaik, have incorporated aspects of both 1.6 and CSS in hopes of combining both of these games into a single community. A very strong competitive (ESEA, LANfest etc...) scene can go a long way in attracting new people to their game.

im with you solsek, i hope it will replace black ops at MLG or something, still think it will be hard to combine the two playerbases, i'd rather have them go all out for the dedicated cs crowd but i guess that just makes no sense from a business standpoint

When I mean casual FPS players, I am also including people who play BF/CoD 40 hours a week, because lets face it...all they do is join a game and play. I remember spending hours going over strategies and positions on every single map with my team. To me, CS players:BF/CoD players as Poker Pros:OMG I HAZ POCKET ACES AND LOST. We are just a completely different level. I could probably join a CoD server right now and have at least a 2:1 KD. I doubt a CoD player could join a server full of CS pub scrubs and get a single kill.

Queue the Quake players
lol this game will fail hard !

I love all the hate between BF3 players and CoD players, because we all know which FPS is the best...even 10 years later.

I would be lying if I said I didn't like playing BF3 and CoD.

Am I missing something? This is coming out for xbox, right?

I loved CS, used to devote endless hours to it. I haven't played it since like 2006 but would definitely be on board for GO.

Put money on a CoD player joining a CS server with ****ties and able to get a kill? There is a random aspect to the guns in CS when you spray (unlike BF3 and CoD which allow you to full on spray and be accurate up to a mile away), so there is a chance that they could randy someone. If you give me the right odds I would.

umm all guns on cod and bf have spread also so your point is ******ed lool !!!

also id bet whatever you want that guys like istainville and fear assassin would wreck a pub CS server , CS is not some game that is incredibly hard to play ! Its still guns and about aiming , controlling recoil and positioning just like all fps games . Your CS is so much harder to play is loltastic

Also, BF3 and CoD guns have almost no recoil compared to AK or M4 in CS...this is true.
dude ive seen millions of cs vids i dont give a **** !! Its not about them having more recoil as each fps is different but to you thinking good players wont adjust to that shows how utterly clueless you are lol . Done with this convo , CS much be better lol thats y so many people still play it errrrrrrrrrrrrr.........nvm loooooooooool

There are videos on YouTube teaching ppl how to spray the AK with zero recoil in CS. Give the cod player an hour to practice with the mouse and keyboard and they would probably have more than one kill.

Solsek, stop trolling. And stop posting videos of people trolling.

The fact that someone who was a professional Counterstrike player can rape a random lobby on Nuketown means precisely jack-s***. The guy in that video actually says that going prone is "ridiculous" and "doesn't make sense". LOOOOL. Ya, soldiers can't lay flat on their stomach during a gunfight! Who ever heard of such nonsense!?!?

Great video tho, thanks for lulz.

No chance they make the deagle as accurate as before in 1.3 or earlier. As of right now the deagle is still very accurate if you are a half decent player. All of the adjustments they've made to the weapons in certain weeks/months only affect people who don't know how to strafe and shoot properly (IE: CoD/BF kids who play CS and think they can run foward and shoot at the same time at a guy across the map).

AFAIK they will never remove the AK, M4, AWP, Deagle, MP5, glock and USP from the game because these are the 7 main guns used in the game. They can definitely add other weapons, but it won't see the same usage as those 7 (IE: Galil and Famas...people do use them, but rarely beyond eco rounds).

That will definately depend on the efficiency of those guns and not something you can state before you've seen/tried the game.

I'm also an oldschool 1.6 player and this is awesome news - I keep comming back to CS and have played it every year since 2001 or something, simply the best FPS for me.

I prefer the CS model with rounds to the deathmatch, constant respawn style seen in most popular FPS games today. Also the maps being less like an open battlefield and more like the oldschool CS maps (D2, Inferno, Aztec).

Would be soo awesome if they actually made this new game almost EXACTLY like 1.6 only with better grapichs. I think it's popularity even over time is a testimony that they "got something right" when figuring out how the guns and moving should work in a game. CS is the FPS game I've played where you really can see your skill improving, even after a long time playing. Which is why you don't even needed all the ranks/levels and leaderboard for it to stay popular.

Also I think cross-platform play is a bad idea from a business perspective. Us PC users will simply own the platform players to an extend that makes the game too hard and unplayable for the normal console dude who want a few frags. It will be like EZ bots running around the maps

I was also a CS 1.6 and former versions player in a quite a decent team (French EAS), and I was discussing this with a former teamate not long ago, he said something very true : "heck, even 12 years after, a one shot HS remains a one shot HS. Just beautiful".

That said for most of us (old schoolers) css was such a letdown and I actually never played it more than a few FFA. It started the movement to what solsek described (more aimed towards the casuals), sort of half way between CS 1.6 and MW/BF. Will definitely follow the news about it though.

I guess they could make the Galil, Famas or any new gun just as good as the M4 or AK but it would be hard for me to see that happening. I watched several pros scrim against each other and they seemed to be using the typical M4, AK, AWP, deagle weapons that you see in 1.6 and source. They also used a few of the new weapons but I'm guessing that was just for show (it was streamed live). Forgot to mention that the "usage" I am talking about is in competitive play. Casual play (in pubs or whatever) doesn't really matter when it comes to weapon dynamics cause the server can just ban a weapon if they want.

I will admit though that the galil and famas are great options for getting early mid picks on season, tuscan, inferno and d2 etc on the second round.

During my first semester in college, I was able to get exempted in my programming class. Then I experienced my first taste of competitive Counter Strike. From that time on till I graduated, I struggled to pass every class. LOL. This game is just Legendary! It's series deserves to live on and oust MW3 and BF3
