Round win vs Round loss + MVP is how your elo is affected. ( difference in your elo vs average on other team is taken into account as well ).

there is no elo in this game. it uses a different system

There is a sort of elo, it's just more obscure than regular elo because we don't really know how it's calculated.

From what I've read/heard, the most important stat is the MVP. The more MVPs you get, the faster you rank.

Based on the guys I que with, I don't think that's accurate. But w/e, it's all speculation. There are guys I started playing with since day 1 (day 1 for them as well), and in the beginning they were 4-5 ranks higher than me b/c I was always 3-19 or some**** like that. i caught up by improving my kdr and never gave a **** about defusing. imo stars are w/e

According to valve it is based off of ideas within the glicko 2 rating model. https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffen...anking/ckfhfir

Fyi, I am usually 3rd or 4th on the Ieaderboard in my games and I've consistently ranked up, am LEM at the moment. I actually cringe when I get promoted because I feel like I never get a period where I can dominate for a bit and actually feel good at the game. So ya I don't think kdr has that much to do with it.

The only post that's actually accurate regarding rankings. There's very little we know - it is based on ELO/glicko (valve statement) and has some individual performance aspects (player experiments always queuing together but end up differently ranked). That's all anyone knows.

Like Patrik Antonius to Jennifer Tilly.

Pros are very good aimers, can very quickly devise a sweet pop flash that'll blind the opponent (and not them), good sense of timings and strategies, rarely mess up nades, peek quickly and tightly, so as not to expose too much of their body, make good calls, and don't routinely mess up simple stuff like buying too much on ecos/forcing when they shouldn't.

Globals are usually capable of all those things, but most I've played with don't do them super well. It really is just a matter of experience. I started playing 12 months ago and put in about 870 hours to go from silver 4 to GE... if I put in another 800 hours I'll be waaaay better. Aim is just a small part of it.

And seriously, most pros I've seen/played in DM or w/e with are not that much better of aimers than a lot of LEMs I've played with. They're very good with recoil control and making smart decisions, plus a lot of the other stuff I laid out above. So many things go into dominating.

I wish more people prided themselves on playing support/making good calls. I do so much worse on my LEM smurf regularly than my main because most LEMs are terrible teammates. Nothing to do with fragging ability, just making no calls/not talking/being toxic.

Pretty sure if you put shahzam in DM against a LEM it would be a bloodbath.

Lol I played with that ****er. He joked about how I probably only have 200 hrs. Tbf I can't blame him

Also, I do some support pretty well. E.g. on Dust 2 ct, if B site is being taken and I'm rotating from a, once I get to mid I throw a flash over window at b that's placed behind my teammates defending b to blind only the t's.

I do the same thing for long

so I've been trying to get into esea and it seems a bit meh... from what I gather more people try to win in mm than in esea, no one really calls anything in esea. I guess pugging kinda sucks when you solo q on it think I prefer to solo mm. Very small sample though.

I got the same feeling from playing FaceIt. Got really excited to play it at first, because 128 ticks and knife rounds and overall felt more "pro" than regular MMs.

But quickly realized people just don't care because they don't have anything to lose. They don't even login when the map that was voted don't suit them. If they lose the KR on mirage and have to play T side first, people leave, etc etc.

Got boring really fast.

Yeah, it would be alot more fun if had 5 people for faceit.

Regarding ELO and ranking up heres how I have understood it, it is a ranking based on how you do against the expectation of how you'll do against your opponent.

For example if Team A has much higher elo people, it is expected they will win 16-10 for example. If Team A wins 16-14, team B did better than expected and gains ELO, while team A would lose some.

I have personally ranked up on a close loss like that, and I have also seen people who had a 5-20+ K-D rank up. I don't think it has anything to do with individual performance

Definitely a small component... when my friend and I started playing we did all our placement matches together and I came out silver 4 while he was silver 3

I've never bothered with mouse feet once they go, I just tend to get a new mouse. I've been wanting to get a new mouse for a bit now though.
