I lost connection to steam even though my home/internet connection was fine.

I think there is a problem with Steam right now. I was talking to bluefox and it booted me from the chat. I then tried finding an Arms Race game and it failed to connect to one.

I saw other people saying it wasn't showing up for them either. Probably just a processing delay.

Just played 2 games of Arms Race. First one I got in late, second game I went something like 22-19. haha

The game has a different feel than when I played it earlier in the year. Before you had to be super precise on your headshots, now it seems like it's more balanced. Has a good feel to it.

Playing in a defuse game, I hit ESC to bring up the menu, then I hit it again, and the screen flickered and now it's like everything is so much bigger.

I'm not sure what I did. It's not unplayable, but it's awkward in a way.

Any idea?

I don't know. Maybe it's just me. Maybe the chat window changed. Is there a way to resize it?

There's a ui scale setting like in WoW, maybe you changed that.

Possible. I didn't think my eyes were playing tricks on me.

Well, all I did was hit ESC 2 times. It was just, ESC>ESC, nothing else. But now that I think about it more, I think I remember last night when I was going through the settings I put it on Fullscreen Windowed and then I was able to specify it to 1920x1200. But then after that game when I was trying to play around with fixing the settings, it all said Disabled. So I don't know. Maybe it is a bug. Maybe not.

lol I'm just kidding. Game is good, don't listen to anyone that says otherwise. CSGO is the future of the series.

I had the UI bug last night when I was playing. No idea what was going on, when I alt-tabbed and went back into the game everything was resized. Couldn't recreate it or get it back to the original size without restarting the game. Definitely some sort of issue that has popped up with this recent patch.

The game is a lot like source when it came out. Lots of issues that need to be resolved, but it should get fixed with time. To be honest 95% of the players won't really even know what is "wrong" with the game, so it's nothing most people need to really worry about. Valve is a company that likes to fix things once and be done with it (unlike Blizzard). So they generally take time with changing big game mechanics. The current state of the game is actually good enough for an official release. So much has been improved and changed since November that I am really optimistic about the game because Valve and Hidden Path know that they can't screw this up with all the hype surrounding the game and the fast decline of 1.6 and source.

Every now and then the top right where it shows the players kills will get super big. Everything else stays the same. It returns to normal size usually within the same round.

That said... my aim is back. Back to slaughtering fools with the ak/colt.

solsek - is the aug getting any playing time in matches/pugs? I just purchased it in a pub to **** around and it seems realllllly good. Of course, the only reason I purchased it was because I was rich and bored, so the other players were bad. But it seems really accurate and easy to spray as well (slow ROF)

AUG gets used more than in 1.6 and source...but still not very much. In fact you see a lot of diversity in guns which is actually pretty cool. You have a a few more viable options now because of how accurate the AUG and SIG are. Obviously like you said, the downside is that they are super expensive. The slow ROF definitely helps out because of the large spread in the recoil. I personally haven't tried it out that much because I really love the galil over the AK47 and the famas over the M4. I will probably check out those guns next. As time goes on I'm sure those guns will get more recognition.

WHERE IS THE SILENCED M4?!!?!?!?!?

What would I do and what commands would I use if I just wanted to set up a random game with a bunch of bots so that I can just practice my aiming?

I'm thinking like join a map 1vX, whatever gun I want, unlimited ammo, possibly respawning enemy, unlimited time limit, etc.

I have played about 200 hours on 1.6 and probably 300 hours of CSS, so not that much given the games lifespan. Anyway I am loving CSGO and am thinking about taking it semi-seriously.

Cs:Go is the first cs i have EVER played. Im pretty terrible but am slowly getting the hang of it. Took me a while to realize that you cannot play this game like COD (cod is pretty much the only FPS i have put any time into ) probably doesnt help that i play on a laptop with a ****ty mouse but I keep putting off rebuilding my desktop so thats my own fault

There is a lot to learn but if you keep at it then you will fall in love with it. It's by far the best FPS ever in terms of competitiveness which is the only factor I care about

The biggest difference between CS and CoD is that you basically cannot shoot and run at the same time. You can in CS, but if the person is moderately far away from you won't hit them with much accuracy. You want to strafe side to side, stop, then shoot all in very quick motions. Never move forward and backward in a gun fight unless you need to reposition or throw a grenade. Recoil is even harder control with that type of movement and you are moving along the same plane so your opponent has an easier shot. Another thing is angles. In CoD they basically mean nothing because you can just run around and not really worry about holding angles because of how the game is designed. In CS however it will give you an advantage in every gun fight if you hold the proper angles.

Might be getting a little advanced with this next tip but it is a very good habit to get into early. Don't aim at the ground, aim where your opponent will be. So for example when you are turning a corner, move your cross hair while you turn and position the crosshair so it will be on their head. This is called pre-aiming, it requires knowledge of the maps and typical places where you opponent likes to be so it will take a lot of time to get this down.

When controlling recoil make sure to pull down the crosshair as the recoil gets higher. Crouching also helps the recoil not reach the maximum right away.

I appreciate the advice a lot! my biggest problem so far imo is moving around when trying to shoot and my slow reflexes when it comes to shooting. Ive been playing a few games against bots to try and slow myself down and stop trying to run and gun around every corner. also def not to advanced on the not aiming at the ground advice. this is something I put a lot of time into on COD and that has translated into me being cognizant about it on cs. this has actually helped me get a few of my very small number of kills so far

Join a deathmatch server (browse community servers, sort by ping, join first one with deathmatch in the title and people playing)

I want to avoid the random servers with regular people. I didn't enjoy it too much in Source.

I want something against bots since they tend to not move around too much.

Thinking something where I have to use console commands, but I don't know what the commands are.

I don't think all commands are available right now, but try some of these out.

I used quite a few of these when making my videos. I'm not sure which ones they've added since. Also sv_showimpacts 1 is a nice one to use to see where your bullets are going. Make sure to have cheats enabled with sv_cheats 1.
