They sent out more invites with this patch. Keep checking your steam. I got 2 friends that got in this time, but both about 15 minutes apart. Not sure if they are done sending them out.

but in aus cpl wasnt big wcg and wgt was bigger thats all we had we were flown around country to play national comps by sponsors we were a top level team.

we did do strats over vent like spawn position strats flashs bla bla but i think it was overrated no that we didnt do it (:

Yeah, not doing strats in today's game is not going to work if you want to be the best (or even remotely good). Dynamic and Torqued of the US are probably 2 of the top 4 teams in source right now and they treat CS like a full time job.

Now imagine, this is just one setup of many that can be used to defend this part of the map. Then there are similar types of setups that are required on other parts of the map. Then you need to master the terrorist side of how to counter these setups. Now imagine doing this for every single map.

Edit:

This was their defense a few seasons ago so I'm sure they've changed it since they made this video. Just like poker, you can't have a static defense otherwise your opponent will know exactly what you are doing. You must essentially "balance your range".

Anyone ever play on the 47Ronin 24/7 dust2/office CS:S server? I've been playing on it quite a bit. Gets good traffic but dies off around this time of morning.

I suck ass but still enjoy playing imo.

Recoil feels much better after the April 20th update, but still has this a significant amount of randomness to it (relative to 1.6 and source). The biggest concerns with the game for me are still: clearness of the maps (this is probably attributed to the dull color schemes Valve uses in all of the maps), excessive fog, similar sounding guns, sv_friction and stamina recovery. They could probably fix all these things with just 1 patch, but getting them to be "right" will probably take some time.

stamina = movement after jumping/dropping or being shot

Acceleration to full speed is way too fast.

I've been playing 1.6 on ThreatGaming 24/7 dust2 server, it's very active and usually full of really solid players actually. I come across dudes with 3 and 4 digit steam ids almost every session. It's the best active NA server I've found, everything else is euro's euro's euros' and I can't be bothered to play with 150ms, F dat.

ya the recoil has gotten better, but the guns still feel horrible to me.
also agree totally on the fog and crap on maps.

changes seem to be coming very slow

Valve has just announced the launch date of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive: August 21. A collaboration with Defense Grid developers Hidden Path, Valve also mentioned that CS:GO will cost $15 “on all platforms.

hmm this is made by valve not the creator of CS. in fact the creator of CS is making a new game and it looks very similar to what CS what probably be today if valve didn't take over
