yeah i was going back and forth on it. i'll most likely start this weekend, and have no irl friends or friends from back in the day playing so i'll probably look for some server that has 2p2 people on it as well, i dont think there is any set guild though.

Cool, if anyone else is interested let me know. I just rolled on a rppvp server, but I'd be game for any server and either faction.

Happened to open twitch when the Joker guy was a couple bars from 60. Watching him AoE grind Plaguelands brought me right back to my own vanilla Mage experience. I leveled the same way. Watching him then [try to] delete his character and turn off the stream also mirrored my Vanilla sentiments at the time. I lasted a couple days at 60 before boredom set in and I went back to Ultima Online. Didn't return until WOTLK.

I got a little chuckle when his last pull had a couple stubborn resists to ruin the grouping. That was always so tilting.

Does anyone know someone personally who is the kind of guy to spam twitch chat or behave like that crowd of people who followed Joker on his walk through Stormwind and were spamming? I've always wondered what that looks like in the form of a real person interacting with the world without a keyboard in front of them. Who ARE these people?

i have no idea who those people are. but i thought that is definitely what would happen with mmorpg's and the streaming community. i dont understand the mindset of just trying to get noticed by your streamer for like two seconds..

i've played in streamer groups before like in diablo 3 with only like 1k people watching and people would message me random **** in game just because i was in the group of 4ppl with the streamer, and that was super small potatoes to something like this..

I like to imagine that those are just 10-13 year olds who haven't developed the maturity yet about how to act online and were finally allowed some screentime from their Mommy's. The same squeaky little voice talking about your Mom on COD voice comms.

I am sure I am wrong though and there are grown adults that literally think they are getting some sort of point across or making an impact by doing this.

I hope to never meet these people.

Ahhhh Classic is so good. I haven't been this consumed in something in a long time. Just realized today that a bunch of random websites and stuff I normally check every day, I haven't checked them since Monday.

I liked BobboFitos's story - one of my favorite things from the old days was the impromptu PvP battles.

Call Blizzard support and get your drivers license, passport, social security card and birth certificate ready.

What server/faction are you guys rolling on? I'm interested.

Had another story about leveling in 1k needles w my buddy (also a 2p2er) - but this time around we got ****ing crushed by the horde LOL. Wide open zone = mages and hunters destroyed us. Was still fun.

I feel like my leveling pace is decent, 29 but not playing today. I wanted to be 40 by a week in, and although unlikely, i wont be that far off.

The queue was better yesterday. They did something to tinker w the waits, and rather than 5 hrs it was about 1 hr. I totally get how that will be a barrier to some, but after playing on a full pserver i cant stress enough how great it is to be on a super busy server.

I told the gf i would be no lifing for a week, so after tues i need to be more responsible w my gaming time i guess lol

Ragnaros just went down to APES
Classic WOW Quote
08-31-2019 , 07:51 PM
Yeah, APES all shut their streams off a few hours ago and people on reddit were speculating that they were moving into MC. Happened to catch it on twitch when the streams went up to stream Rag. Looked pretty non eventful / easy fight.

People who predicted week 1 and that Rag would be a joke to a modern raid team were dead on.

also it's speculated they had the first 60s, and they "won't say how they leveled"

So has raiding changed alot in the 14/15 years, or has MC been nerfed to 1/x of what it was back in 04/05?

I'm still clueless how it took some guilds 5 days to lvl and clear MC. I wasted like 6 months of my life back in 05 trying to clear MC, and these guys do it on one run that takes 2 hours with greens and blues? wtf

the people in APES have dominated vanilla private servers for a decade. not surprising.

as long as people aren't calling it a "world first" because it's not

I don't think anything has been nerfed. 10-15 years of experience changes things.

Streaming has also changed things, there is money to be made when you have the prestige and it's caused a lot of guilds to take these things a lot more seriously.

Compared to modern raiding, the raids in Vanilla was always ridiculously easy. It was only ever the raiders that were the problem.

Molten Core was designed and implemented in less than a week by two dudes. Each boss is basically just a tank and spank. MC could've been cleared with a raid of level 50s as long as they found a way to not have the tank get 1-shot. You can literally have someone not in combat rezzing people who die on fights.

In 2005 99% of your raiders were keyboard turning clickers who had never heard of hotkeys or addons.

Ah, well it looks like these guys are about to try Onyxia in about 5 minutes with 32 people, lets see how this goes.

1st attempt - 32 people wipe phase 3
2nd attempt - 34 people, lost half group in phase 2, killed him but with 12~ left at end

idk. i played on silver hand (where joker D set the same record) and he was way faster than anyone else on his grind to 60. i was literally logged in when it was saying server first 39, server first 40, etc etc.

but yeah, they pretty much destroyed all predictions

That's not possible. Even if they don't stream they can't hide from people spamming /who 58-60, there's absolutely no chance any of them hit 60 without it being noticed. Not to mention that they could have easily have confirmed themselves as first 60s without unveiling their leveling strategy. Sounds like people just have trouble coping with the fact everybody lost to a bald Swedish Gnome.

Similiarly, people weren't /speculating/ they were in MC, that was an easily confirmable fact, all that was unknown was how they were doing and how far they got (until stream was turned on).
