8/27 release date

8/26 for US though, im seeing..

watching a youtuber, tipsout, talk about the newest version of the beta that he tested(?).

saying that private server mob armor values and abilities are so off compared to classic, that leveling is going to take 30% longer than anticipated as compared to private servers..

also it seems like people are complaining that blizzard might be "layering" the servers, so like full world sharding.

Layering is fine, and only lasts phase 1.

yeah. im not a purist to the point where i need the game to bottleneck and suck because of "the experience".

plus i agree with the idea that a bunch of people will be quitting after about a month or so

i don t have an issue with layering. leveling taking longer is ok with me, it's enjoyable, largely. bummed the release is so far off, was hopefully it would be in a month

i appreciate the grift of getting people subbed half a month early to "reserve their character name" with their guild.

I'm pissed as hell that you can't get beta without an active sub and they are prioritizing those with lengthy subs. Ridiculous.

Why is that ridiculous?

Because no beta in WoW has ever required an active sub and retail is trash. They want people to resub for a chance at a beta, aka slot machine cash grab.

the thign I dont get is do peopel remember how much of a grind the game used to be? peopel with 40-50yr a week jobs with kids might not be able to make it out alive lol

I remember following a leveling guide (Joanna's I think) when BC came out and and I still think it took almost 100 hours to hit level 60.

If it only took you 100 hours then you would hold the record of fastest to 60. It takes longer than that.

I still remember corpse crawling my way to Ogrimar as a lvl 25 human (ranked up from XP due to travel distance). I managed to dance a jig for about 30 seconds before someone killed me.

So my proposal to you is I can be your slave alliance humanoid who follows your group around in my underwear dancing for wooden nickles whom you protect from attacks.

The purpose of this is to see if they nailed it, so it makes perfect sense to prioritize those who have active and lengthy subs. Those are the biggest fans.

There's no playtesting to do here. They just need a bunch of turbonerds to basically fact-check their execution of Vanilla.

No hardware testing needed. No "is this too hard for the casuals" feedback to obtain. No traditional bug-finding on new content that would benefit from widely varied playstyles. This is the perfect job for people who have been subbed for 15 years straight and stuck out through the bad times.

I watched some streams but didn't feel the pull. Still, I have many millions of gold rotting on retail, so I might give it a shot if the kids want to.

Defo looking forward to this. We'll see if I actually make 60 last time. I got bored killing spiders and rerolling when my mage hit 52. Also lol at calling classic a hard MMO. Those people have clearly never played classic eq or uo.

i was a Marshal in vanilla as well, and was #1 on WCL for a bit in legion last xpac and played all of vanilla to cata. also was one of like 30 leaders in mage chat last xpac

Not sure if im playing this though and wondering if the nostalgia is really worth it

WoW top Twitch, has been crushing since the beta release - believe Asmo got over 100k viewers, which is staggering.

I think the people that were pessimistic about the classic launch are going to eat turd piles.

I would love to be wrong about Classic WoW. It hurts me zero to be wrong and it will be enjoyable to everyone pining for it. The people who get butt hurt about things not going poorly like how they envisioned is always so weird to me.

Mostly this. I can't personally see the longevity for Classic, but if it does have high retention, there's only upside. Plus, even if you only get a year of subs out of the fervent Classic-only guys, that's probably a massive ROI for Blizzard in getting this up and running. Since there's no new development to do, the sub money is nearly all gravy.

There are people like this on both sides trying to **** on the other. In the Classic subreddit, you've got people demanding that it get its own Twitch category so people can see how awful retail WoW is and that Classic is superior. What a poor attitude that is. Let each one help the other and Make Azeroth Great Again.

anything to push retail down sounds good, it should definitely get it's own section

I dont mind splitting them on twitch tbh. I think the people that want that for petty reasons are dumbasses but it makes sense for logistical reasons.

the launch will be imensely popular, but its month 3 or so that will really be the judge, imo. when the casuals are still level 40-50 and are getting camped on pvp servers and the hardcores are done with most stuff and just sitting around waiting for the next phase..

yeah we'll see. you may be right! i suspect the leveling curve will keep casuals intrigued for longer given it's certainly not a quick grind, especially if you're playing like 2 hours a day.

i think the hardcore at ANYTHING burn through things super fast, so for them it'll be about chasing pvp rewards (takes a ton of time) or leveling alts. or maybe they bounce back and forth to retail, i really dont know

i just know i will be able to play a good amount, but not hyper obsessively, so it'll work out for ME
