Depends on your deck and cards but I also generally don't like to waste elixir.

Also no problem playing first. Only time I don't is when my starting hand has RG, fireball, arrows, barbs.

I had a CRAZY 300-400 trophy downswing in the last week. It's been a pain in the ass playing against inferno tower combos.

Some starting hands I'm more comfortable dropping something first, but it's always nice when they'll play something when the counter hits 9 elixir so you get to play your answer without wasting that half elixir.

Some cards are really nice to start, like Elixir Pump. Other hands suck. If I start with something like Zap, Fireball, Tesla, and Musketeer then it feels pretty bad. Dropping Tesla there is probably the right choice but sometimes they'll just sit and continue to wait while your tesla just loses health. Hopefully you've cycled to something like pump or 3 mana minions.

I generally won't play any cards first unless it's elixir collector. My deck is a reactive deck.

I had a game or 10 that no one played any cards until after 1 minute into game.

I like to see their initial push, or at least let them start it. Like a giant behind their tower. I'll generally throw a hog or prince into opposite lane to make them waste elixir thus delaying their push and seeing more of their cards while only revealing one of mine.

POG seems to be dead for the most part. Almost no chat. Only 5 people showing anything on the donate list, including me). I hate to be the one to leave but I'm giving up 2 levels on every card now.)

Musketeer is better than tesla as an opener in your example even if not ideal since you can start a push with it. Tesla does nothing

I have seen more witches in the last 48 hours than I have since I was at 1000 trophies. Is there anything better as a witch counter than Valk?

I actually jumped on my mini account at 1200 trophies and saw Witches in 6 of the last 10 games.

I think I might need to sub out mini Pekka since it gets completely derailed by witch.

I switched to Giant/Balloon to switch things up. First game went up against a level 8 as a level 6. We traded our first tower but I lost to the 3 crown since his Giant/Balloon/Rage killed my king's tower before my minion hoard could kill either of his units.

But it's all good because I'm on my way down towards more level 7 players.

I've never encountered a game that is so good but yet so infuriating. On my main it's Royal Giants and on my mini it's playing against towers and cards 2 levels above me. The mini gets a lot worse matchups than my main, but I think it's still fun because you play against a more interesting card pool (i.e. no Royal Giants, Miners, or Princesses). Sucks to struggle against witches but it still feels better to lose against a player pool that doesn't include legendaries in every deck.

i'm only in arena 6, i nearly made 7 but then went on a 200 downswing and still falling.

that more than anything is making me lose interest. i basically never stay steady and just grind my way higher - i win 10 in a row, hold there for 5 games, lose 10 in a row. i understand my deck might be stronger vs some and weaker vs others, but it almost feels rigged to increase variance and not in a fun way.

like when i hit 1994 and needed one win to get royal arena, i faced someone 2 tower levels higher than me with a level 7 royal giant.... ok sweet this is winnable.

Don't forget that this is a buff to sparky because they nerfed every counter to it, basically. (Zap)

I don't think the nerf to zap will affect the use rate much nor the effectiveness vs sparky in a significant way. There's a post on reddit about it and only effect is vs ice wizard plus sparky. And i expect a more significant nerf to ice wizard super soon. That 5% hp nerf was barely noticeable

So what's good now? I went 7-8-2 at ~3100 with this today:

10 Zap
10 Goblins
9 Minion Horde
9 Ice Spirit
8 Furnace
1 Ice Wiz
1 Miner
1 Lumberjack

I dunno about it, it's fine but not great or anything. I'm sad my giant is 6 with only like 20 towards lvl 7. It's the easiest card to use with LJ.

I'm playing this list on my side account, but miner furnace instead of princess poison, and as a result, my pushes are getting wrecked by minion horde pretty bad. I'm also short a level on about half the cards (under tourn cap on musk/collector, at tourn cap on the rest). Anyway, I'm about .500 after 20 games at ~2600. I think having the princess or ice wizard to counter minions or the hodes might be essential for a giant/bowler deck, and furnace, while nice on defense against minions, isn't sufficient. Or do you think the deck could still hit legendary arena without any legendary cards? Maybe minions and furnace would be enough to deal with minion horde being dropped on top of my backline?

i m pretty sure archer/musketeer should be enought in your backline.
one option his fire spirit aswell
minions in your backline instead of archer is an option , princess isnt that great in that deck tbh
