That is because on attack troops will attack defending troops ignoring everything else. So the moment a defending troops is close enough to be targeted the attacking troop will go after it. Even if it means trying to break walls to get to them. That is why a centered clan castle is not always the best option because it can pull troops toward the center.

I still feel it's preferable to having a lurable CC where they can pull your troops away from defenses and eliminate them more easily. Make them suffer the pounding from defenses and the CC troops at the same time

So far I've seen defensive lava hounds at work twice.

The first time was on CJs base and it went all over the place annoying the shot out of the attackers and never even died.

And just now I saw it do epic work for Matts base, the lava pups in particular proved very useful. They spread out so far and actually did decent damage and proved not very easy to kill.

My conclusion so far is that lava hounds are a decent option for high level base defence

What is the standard army comp now for higher lvl farming/war? Gowipe? Gowiwi? Anyone try lavaloonian yet? I unlock hounds in a week, wanna give it a shot

I have not tried that.. hmm.. may try soon. I have hounds but never use them.

With loons, the AQ and clan castle can sink an attack. Certain buried AQ & cc setups may be more exploitable by the lava hound drawing the AQ and cc out...

The one time I tried hound, it died way quicker than I was expecting... but I have not upgraded it yet.

What do you consider "higher level"? Where are you farming, what trophy range/league?

Also, farming and war army compositions are generally going to be vastly different.

When I was in a warring clan (TH9) I generally went with GoWiWiPe (Golems, Witches, Wizards, Pekkas)

I am just getting around to upgrading my first DE Barracks to produce lava hounds, but don't see myself using them anytime soon.

I've tried it but havent had a ton of success vs very strong bases, but my hounds aren't upgraded yet. I still think gowiwi is best.

GoWiWiPe combos are all pretty bad at lower levels right? It's been horribly unsuccessful at mostly level 1 guys and 5* wizards... Probably need th10 with maxed camps for 240 troops to be worthwhile right? How many WBs needed?

I am surprised that someone thinks that I'm #49 or #50 in the poker degens clan and have been booted for that.
