Just started playing this last night. Subscribing. Any tips for a new player, besides not spending gems early until the 3rd worker? I am on level 12 of the PvE and seems like I need to use something other than barbs, archers, and the goblin looking dude to win.

Barbs and archers go a long way. Max all your building/ unit upgrades before upgrading your town hall (you'll thank me later)

Gems are for buying builders. Try not to use them for anything else at the moment. You get them for free when you clear trees and shrubs etc.

K thanks, my town hall is lvl 3. I take it it's because of when I get attacked I don't want to have a high town hall level so the attacker gets a bonus (or at least a lesser penalty for picking on my noob ass)?
Yeah, he's copied the base from the guy I copied..
The original has no gap and I see no advantage of this change..
I saw a great tutorial on how to manipulate the enemy troops a.i. I'll try to dig it up, it's good for people who wonder why drags go a certain way or who the healer "decides" to follow...

The delay in th upgrades is, amongst other things, to
Keep you from falling behind your peers. Troop upgrades, barracks upgrades and camp upgrades key to helping your attack power.
Don't use Gems for anything until you have 5 builders. I can't stress that enough.
When you have your clan castle rebuilt join poker degens.
