My only real beef with the game was that the DLC's started you out at the same starting point and no teleporting to the other areas like you could in the main game. That was especially annoying in General Knoxx (though it was my favorite DLC) even though you had a vehicle.

Really? With underdome you at least knew what's it gonna be (those arena fights), but claptrap was supposed to be "normal" DLC and it still sucked soooo hard. The quests were such a boring grind, basically "collect 50X" followed by "collect 100Y" and of course you get those from the exact same opponents in the same place you did the last quest. Not to mention the place overall is very boring and repetitive. And I'm not even exaggerating with those numbers, you literally had to pick up ~100 of some things, killing like 2 different monsters.

I didn't even know originally it's developed by a different company, originally I was wondering how the **** they could've managed to **** it up so badly compared to 2 other story DLCs and main game. Maybe a year later or so I was reading some discussion and realized that instead of gearbox that DLC was done by some random company.

At least Underdome gave us the bank, the claptrap DLC was complete ****, something you'd play once and never even consider playing again.

yeah, no fast travel points was a real drag on the dlc.

other beef: rocket launchers were not nearly powerful enough to compensate for their slow-moving, slow-reloading, low-capacity ammo. and why are there even repeater pistols in the game? nobody wants to play with that boring crap. i don't know of anybody that used launchers or repeaters as their preferred gun.

one thing i really didn't appreciate until a second playthrough were the grenades, specifically the bouncing bettie ones. just didn't pay any attention to them the first go around, then i took some time to mess with the different varieties later and they turned out to be pretty fun and effective.

IDK about rocket launchers as I never really played with brick, but repeaters were completely viable with either mordecai or siren. If you specced mordecai for gunslinger, then revolvers and repeaters were basically only weapons you used. Only reason not to like repeaters was that revolvers are so much more awesome than anything else in the game, and same spec allowed you to use them.

I did thousands of those in order to find the rare ones you needed for the trophies/achievements.

that was hugely annoying...you would have so much progress and then stop playing for a night, and when you came back have to travel all the way across a map or two just to get where you had left off...

As for vehicles in the game, although i liked moving around a map in the cars, I really disliked the driving levels in B1, i always found the driving combat in them too difficult so i hope there arent too many in the new one.

I liked the Clap Trap DLC, i thought a lot of the humour in it was pretty funny. I hated fighting the final boss though, I thought he was mega hard.

I found the zombie one fun too but the lighting was too dark all the way through. I would have preferred having proper daylight cycles like the other parts of the game.

Currently working through the Knox DLC, its so much harder than everything i've faced so far lol.

I didnt enjoy the Underdome anywhere near as much as the other DLC or main game. I guess i liked having the missions to clear and having an idea of where the enemies where so i could run and recharge when i needed to as i'm lousy at fighting

I loved the sound of the guns in BL2. They sound so much crisper on the trailers i have seen.

Is the game completely open world, or semi-structured?

Rocket Launchers were awful, it was almost impossible to hit anyone with them and/or do much damage. I only liked to use them to take out those gun turrets when out of range of other guns or that boss in the canyon..can't remember his name. I guess the designers had difficulty balancing them within the game.

Repeaters could be fun, especially with a siren getting in close to targets. So much fun early on in the game with the toe clipper!

So, you’ve got a Golden Key. Maybe you pre-ordered Borderlands 2 from a Premiere Club retailer or maybe you were lucky enough to snag a code from a Gearbox event or giveaway -- there are a variety of ways to get a Golden Key, and somehow you nabbed one.

“But how, O handsome Gearbox developers,” you ask, “does the Golden Key work? Exactly? Also you are very handsome.”

Firstly, thank you for the compliment. Secondly, the Golden Key is a rare item that unlocks a special Golden Chest in the friendly city of Sanctuary. Here’s what that Golden Chest looks like:

So, you’ve got a Golden Key in your profile and you start up the game. What happens next?

Firstly, you’ll have to get to the city of Sanctuary. This should take you about three hours (two hours to play through the missions leading up to Sanctuary, and one hour for physical recovery after you injure yourself laughing at the impeccably written dialog).

Then, you’ve got a decision to make. See, the loot inside the Golden Chest is always of “very rare” (purple) quality and scaled to your character’s level at the moment you open the chest. If you’ve only got one Key, you need to consider: do I want some high-quality loot right now, or do I want to wait until I’m closer to the (considerably more difficult) end of the game? Do I want my Level 21 Maya to open the chest, or should I switch to my Level 33 Axton?

Keep in mind that you cannot trade or sell Golden Keys, and once you’ve used a Key to open the Golden Chest, that Key is gone for good. So, you know. Choose carefully.

Whatever your decision, the loot you get from the Golden Chest is like any other piece of loot in the game – you can trade it, stash it, or sell it at your own discretion!
Cool idea, but if it's anything like BL1 purple guns are a dime a dozen by the end of the game so I'll be cashing this in as soon as I find it.

I can't recall from the first...are all the purple guns scaled to your current stats?

Still not sure what I want to be, I played Siren and Beserker in the first one.

Siren seems different now, Gunzerker seems ok, but I'm really leaning to the ninja dude or the turret guy, he seems less sucky now?

Yeah weird, I thought the siren and berserker were super useless. Only played them enough to get the trophies. Liked the soldier and hunter. All four look good to me now.

You really missed out not using the turret or the bird.

Yeah, the turret guy was the crappiest one. The zerker was great until you went into the New Game + mode where everything was higher level than you, you couldn't do a damn thing, since your real damage was the zerker mode.

Sirens and Hunters just pretty much raped everything, at least in my experience.

Well, the siren, the reason that she was so good was that her specialties were in SMG's. And the highest guns available were the Quad SMG guns that fired 4 bullets in 1 shot. If you spec'ed correctly, you would have lethal rate of fire/armor piercing/crits etc, and you would just beast mode everything. I would go thru in a 4 man game with my SMG with fire damage, did like 900 damage a bullet, and I could solo the last act, like it was nothing. You stacked your.. elemental damages, so I could get lightning/poison/fire while just shooting, and I could do bonus damage if I phasewalked around people. I had no fear running into a crowd of people with phasewalk and popping out of it(it explodes and does damage), and then just spinning in circles, shooting people, head shots were pretty much 1-3 hitters depending on the mob.

The berzerker was great for playthru 1 and 2, he could tank, kill ****, while in zerk mode, but in the 3rd playthru, even in zerker mode, you couldn't tank. You would basically, have to use your guns and kite, and if you took damage, you use beserker mode to heal up and run more. You couldn't melee, you would get chunked.

I've only ever really used the Soldier, and cant imagine playing it all the way through solo without a turret. The decoy value alone was worth having it around for (now i see you can deploy two turrets in BL2 if you have the right skill!).

I'm surprised you thought the Siren useless. My flatmate used to play the Siren in Co-op and that character appeared to be pretty cool, doing loads of damage at close range. (i thought the team bonus for shields was pretty useful too)

I didnt think much of the Beserker, but i agree the version on offer in BL2 is much more impressive.

The Hunter i used occasionally but didnt play very far into the game with him and i can see him being useful in co-op/multiplay, and i wouldnt mind playing him in those games. I much prefer sniping/ long range gun work so although i think the assassin character in BL2 looks really cool, not sure if i will play it much and will probably be my fourth choice character to build.

Yeah I didn't like getting in close to enemies really. That's why I didn't get into the siren or berzerker. I played through with a friend who used the siren though and he was pretty effective. I didn't give her enough of a chance.

The berzerker made no sense to me as he still took way too much damage when in rage mode. Then you drain the skill and you're surrounded by 4 enemies because you had to get close to melee them.

I spent maybe 10minutes with the Berzerker and gave up. Had he been on my first playthrough, I might have liked him. But knowing what was coming, nope.

I might bust out a siren game though just to see. Maybe I'll finally have Crawmermax's head on my mantle.
