Borderlands 2 Borderlands 2

Well, yeah, but like I said, that's not the intended way to play it. So that's probably why they scale missions at first opportunity to take it, not as you go.

Is anyone able to speak to the current co-op traffic on the PS4 Handsome Collection? And/or PS3 BL2/PS.

(Note: This post is the ultimate in procrastination; I'm still 1-12 months away from even owning a PS4. Don't go check just for me. )

Not too bad, 10.5 months since this post and I've finally played the Handsome Collection. Traffic on BL2 wasn't great for a second-playthrough character at level 34. I had one person join for a few minutes, and other times people joined and dropped right away.

It was emotional to see that I'd last played on PS3 in February of 2015, just a few days before moving out west with an uncertain future. It all worked out and here I am to reclaim the character.

Idk if I'll finish the whole 2nd playthrough. I don't recall at this point what quests I skipped or not, and playing the "same" content just isn't that appealing (even tonight for a couple of hours). I thought I'd done some of the DLC, but I don't have any of the trophies so maybe I didn't. Once I get back to where I can access those, I'll start them and see if I want to keep playing. Otherwise I'll just move on to TPS.

Nah I hadn't done any of the DLC. I thought I had a memory of doing some of the Tiny Tina but that must have been something else entirely.

Played the first one, Captain Scarlett, it's decent if you want to go back to that world for a bit. Pretty long, around 10 hours to almost 100% it (not counting the level 50 raid). (Maybe too long).

Also played the Xmas-themed Headhunter pack which is well done and worth playing through, good theming, great boss, and some funny cockney-accent Christmas cheer. Only problem was it caps at level 35 and I was at level 40 so it was a massacre mostly. Short, about an hour. It's only $3 if you don't have a complete version.

Because you bumped this thread I want to make note of how much better Borderlands 2 is than Destiny 2 and it's ****ing bizarre how Bungie got 2 shots at duplicating Borderlands' correct system of elemental rock paper scissors and absolutely ate **** at it.

Dammit I've gotta finish this. I've had it over a year and only played maybe an hour into it.

Oh the other thing Borderlands did right is make the numbers matter. You'd ****ing PORE over the excel spreadsheet of up and down arrows when you got a new gun in BL2 carefully figuring out the situations where you'd use your new gun. Then when you shot a bad guy you'd see the number you expected pop off him. If the number was different than you expected, ah, a mystery, this gun must have something special, or the enemy has something special.

In Destiny, you use the one with the biggest number, except in The Crucible where the numbers don't matter and you suddenly have to, for the first time, look at the weird little traits on the right click screen. And at no point do you ever give a **** about the numbers, they are just hitmarkers.

Fly or whoever else wants to give advice -

I'm at level 45 in TVHM with 2 main DLCs to go (Tina and Hammerlock - definitely want to play both) plus most of the Headhunter packs. I'm pretty ambivalent about wanting to play UVHM - I almost certainly would not play it all the way through. If I do indeed play those DLCs, I think it's likely I'll get to 50 or above and still have a long way to go in the main UVHM storyline (I got to Sanctuary and then stopped playing story missions).

So my options basically seem to be:

1) Rush through UVHM story as fast as possible, likely gaining at least 5 levels along the way I would think? I might already be well past the point of no return if the goal is to beat TVHM no higher than 50. Then play remaining DLCs and Headhunters in UVHM, probably never actually finishing UVHM. Not certain if Headhunters will ever go > 35 - if they don't, it might be enough to keep me from bothering with UVHM since I won't get that benefit.

2) Finish the DLCs in TVHM, probably taking me up past lvl 50, and don't ever bother with UVHM. Play the Headhunter packs way overleveled since they're locked at 35.

With #2, if at some future date I wanted to play UVHM (unlikely but not impossible), I'd be in a lot of trouble as I'd be at a high 50s level with max 50 gear for the beginning of UVHM, and all the enemies would be high 50s as well.

With #1, even if I never finish UVHM, at least I play 2+ DLCs in the mode everyone raves about.

I didn't realize TVHM story missions were at fixed levels. So now I'm way overleveled for those (which is fine to blaze through them) and am up to Tina. More likely now to finish TVHM if it remains a cakewalk.

IIRC the DLCs in TVHM are locked at 50. I don't think you'll get to high 50s from them because the XP nerf for underleveled enemies.

To get maximum joy you need multiple characters. Focus on DLC at the expense of the regular sides you've already done(except for the ~mandatory ones like Moxi's). The wealth of content in this game is to give people who've already beaten it repeatedly a reason to start over, not to give you 200 hours on a single character.

But you said 3 years ago that I should play TVHM and UVHM!

I wound up beating TVHM, had some good randos with me and ended right at 50 (you're almost guaranteed to end up at 50 because of the fixed levels, this fear was unfounded). I asked one of the companions about his gear because we had beat the Warrior and Terranigma in mere seconds. I suspected he was cheating, but I guess he's just put in massive hours farming and knows the boss strategies. He dropped the gear for me to look at and take some, so I got some good 50 gear (this is obv borderline cheating, but it's not going to last me forever).

Started UVHM with my decked out gear, and seemed like it was enough to get me over what a lot of people say is the early UVHM hump. Randos joined quickly including a level 53, but we still did pretty well despite having to fight all 53 enemies while only one of us was a 53. All drops were level 53 though which wasn't ideal.

Anyway...I think I'm going to continue with the final 2 DLCs (and looking forward to playing the Valentine's Day headhunter pack once it's officially Valentine's season) in UVHM and then we'll see. Maybe I'll finally move on to TPS, or maybe I will try another character.

TVHM is the good one! UVHM is tuned for co-op.

Try another character, it's surprisingly different.

Any word on a 3rd game? I've seen a few click-bait articles and vids but I'm not messing with those.

It's in development and has been for a while, nothing concrete. Gearbox put out a game in 2016 and nothing since then so hopefully they will announce something at one of the shows this year.
