Anyone else been playing BDO? It has been out for a year in Korea, but has been released in NA in March. It's one of the best games I've played (IMO) and it's super addicting! It's why I haven't played a hand of poker in the last 2 weeks

Mickin has been addicted to this so I've watched him play a bit, but I cant seem to get into it

played it for about 2 weeks straight since the conq pack launch and got to level 50, almost 51. Haven't dared launch the game in awhile since I needed to play the pokers for money for a bit.

Prob already long kicked from my guild so if I did rejoin I'd be solo again and find it kinda boring at times. I also worry that I'll always be at a disadvantage as a lvl 50-52 in pvp against players who only grind combat and are already 54-56 with +15 gear all around.

Although the game world is beautiful and some of the crafting professions are cool I can't see myself sticking with the game for a long term anyways. It's definitely one of those games where you end up shutting out all other games and hobbies to play when you are into it though.

Ya it's scary addictive. I'm learning how to play it only 1-2 hours a day.

Former WoW addict here (stopped after TBC), I gave up on MMOs after finding The Old Republic, Guild Wars 2 and Wildstar to all be incredibly boring. Anything someone like me might find interesting in this one?

For sure, you gotta try it! It's got a ton of different elements, the combat system is the best i've used, and it's very fresh!

Is this F2P?
If I play and decide I like it, can I still buy a pack?
If it is F2P, is it P2W? I see there is Daum Cash, am I going to need this regularly?

Also, I'd do more PvE and most likely very little PvP, is this for me?

Did a little bit of reading, apparently not f2p - seems like a 1 time purchase, but then that's all I know.

It's buy to play, there's no drawback to taking the 7 day trial. If at any point you want to buy the game/any of the packages you can upgrade the trial account with no penalty and just keep going.

There is a cash shop, it's not something you need to do regularly. There are a few things in there that someone playing seriously is going to want but it's not a matter of having swipe the credit card regularly to be competitive. There's a limit to how much useful stuff you can buy in the cash shop. The top players are not the top spenders.

There is very little raiding type PvE content. For PvE what the game does have is a VERY deep crafting system, hiring workers and building an economic empire is a viable way to play the game.

I probably would have enjoyed the game for several weeks as a single player game, but the end game is more pvp-focused imo. The big thing is going to be node wars, scheduled to be released June 15 which will allow guilds to control territory in game.

edit: the other big thing I didn't say is that there there's no subscription fee

Ya, it's not going to be getting simpler any time soon haha. The first few weeks of the game are pretty hectic honestly. There's a lot to take in.

I don't know if there's any other active 2p2'ers still playing but I'm on Orwen (NA) if you or anyone else cares, channel doesn't matter as it can be switched fairly freely.

There's a huge update coming June 1st, almost like an expansion in normal game terms. It's called Valencia, huge new region

Plan is get a few hours in tonight after work. Been reading a little bit about it, the nodes and workers and such. Quite a bit to take in, but not even to the first city yet, so lot of time to figure it out.

I'd recommend fishing, particularly afk fishing, as a good way to get some starter money. You'll want to lookup something called fishing hotspots. Looks like there's one within swimming distance of Velia, you can just swim out there and get on someone else's boat.

Gathering, which requires energy, is also very good but a bit of a crap shoot since you will rarely (<1%) get a very valuable crystal shard.

And of course, just following the black spirit/killing things is always a good way to go.
