game of the year, ****ing amazing

Anyone else think the game is way too dark? I have a pretty bright IPS display and it hurts my eyes trying to figure out what's going on in most rooms. Secret and Super Secret rooms are nearly impossible to see. Things only got worse in the depths.

Other than that, just as awesome as I hoped it would be. Died on Depths 1 mostly from ham fisting the controller, I think I'll go back to using the keyboard after hundreds of hours using that. If the 360 dpad weren't such crap it'd probably be the better option. Anyone comment on how it feels with a Xbox One pad?

Edit: played on the hard difficulty, is that supposed to feel like normal Isaac? Didn't seem much harder than the original, I took most of my damage from running in to traps or not knowing the mechanics of new enemies.

I think the main difference is that beating bosses doesn't generate hearts. Items like keys and coins also seem to drop less frequently.

Lol 2nd run of rebirth and it was prob my most OP run ever including 200+ hours of the original. Played Maggy, turned into Guppy by Caves 1, plus got an upgrade that I think made my blue flies bigger/stronger (plus Guppy's head every room), plus Monstro shots and choc milk. One hit mom, one hit the heart, binked a devil room and one hit the first 2 forms of Satan, form 3 took 3 hits though :P Only managed to get flawless chieve on Caves somehow though

Agree the darkness is a bit much at times, and I get a little tilted by the fact that the game seems tailored to a controller instead of mouse and keyboard, but am pretty blown away overall so far. Save function is so amazing.

Game is amazing, I keep getting items that lose me range and it's pretty tilting. Thus game is going to eat my free time for awhile.

did you adjust the ingame gamma setting? that was the first thing i did

looks like cards are selling at about 20-30 cents a pop. Sell now or hold til winter sale?

The gamma says it's at 100 already.. which seems odd? Turning it down should make the game darker unless it's in reverse. I found the config file in ~/Documents/my games/Rebirth and set brightness to 0.1, things are much more clear now but pretty washed out.

Edit: set brightness to 0.08 and gamma to 0.8 (80 in options) and things look a lot better. Might tinker a bit more, but I can't believe the game shipped looking like it did. Wonky value ranges for both options btw.

You can go over 100, gamma = 120 works really well for me.

Man, the first challenge (darkness) was super rough. Flaming bombs are too strong though (after many deaths).

brimstone/cancer is stupid funny you have like a .5sec charge

Head Trauma challenge is the worst thing ever, although definitely hilarious if you get a Ringworm

I initially thought the game is easier due to OP items but I no longer feel so. Win/loss ratio got lowered a bit and some of the bosses are way harder than before, i.e. Pestilence

So it was 6 am when the game was finally available to play. As soon as I start it, my PC fails to reconize my keyboard or controller. Several restarts and the same result. I get up today and apparently my keyboard(Logitech G110) is the cause of all the problems. After finding a fix, I finally am able to play. I died on my first run. I really wanted to be cool and kill mom on the first playthrough

Anyway if anyone runs into the problem, here's the fix.

"In the option.ini file under c:\users\documents\my game\isaac folder , change the ControllerHotplug=1 to 0."

I'm the worst. Finally got an OP run and then I went full ****** and misclick used 2 health down pills. Weeeeeeeeeee....died to satan when he was at like 5% HP. Sure wish I had those extra hearts.

Beat Mom's Heart, had an awesome setup but unfortunately couldn't continue further.

Revenge Fly is such an OP item.

I never play seeds, is it wrong? The randomness is part of the experience and will make me love the game longer (or hate it longer while I grind the last bits for platinum god)
