SO.

The bar has been raised about as high as it can go...and the only edge I have left is if I can catch the elusive monster bass that neither of us have been able to catch.
So in other words, he's already caught it and sitting on the photo to slowroll you again.

No way he's doing that...it'd be too big of a brag.

I don't think its impossible...but I would say its extremely hard.

Its just a very intricate and tedious battle that could possibly last over an hour...and it is extremely difficult to not mess up and snap the line when the fish is prone to multiple swirling patterns, jumping, and head shaking over and over.

This. I can't believe that Gamefaqs doesn't have anything on this, but they don't. Somebody must have done this already. But actually this makes the game more realistic, and gives it more replay value, compared to Pro Bass with Mark Davis where the lakes seem totally overstocked with monsters, destroying your will to try and get that one big one. I don't know how such a legend as Mark Davis could sell out and put his name on something like this

Theres pretty much no info online at all. I've searched everywhere...and my last chance is to run across someone on a forum that knows how to do it.

Thanks.
Regardless if I catch the monster in time or not, I'll still post the results of the bet probably about the time Ivey is winning the WSOP ME.

I bet $50 straight up on him last night almost immediately and without asking for odds.

Any extra information on the game is shared with opponent...so its not cheating.
Its not like I would be hacking the cartridge to help in catching it...I just want the pattern information as to where the bass would appear.

Really all I have is excuses and a twist ending.

I did email HotB, but I have yet to get a reply.

I've been sick for the past week (all throughout the competition) with tonsil problems and a respiratory infection. I didn't put in an A-game performance, because I just basically wanted to sleep after taking meds.

My opponent played all week nonstop and wound up beating me. Fair and Square.

Lake 3 I finished with 52.86 lbs. to his 55.34 lbs.
(After fishing it for a week, he caught a pattern of Largemouth fish at the end of one play on the last day. It is rare to catch a Largemouth in the 3rd lake, but I managed to catch a 12 lb. Largemouth on top of four 10 lb. Smallmouth and figured it'd be enough to win.) Just another oddity of this game...since he played the lake over five times without seeing one Largemouth Bass.

Lake 4 I finished with 94.97 lbs. to his 96.30 lbs.
I had set aside Sunday (the last day) to really grind out a winning number, but after Phil Ivey busted Saturday night I got hammered and just didn't care anymore. Its just ridiculous that a Queen always comes in that spot. Its too much to ask for one double-up for Ivey against a guy that pretty much just had to walk into the Rio and sit down to make the final table.

The Twist:

Monday I sat down and cleared everything out of the way.
I loaded up the 4th lake and went on search for the monster bass, because I needed revenge. I found him within 30 minutes and the fight began. After 1 hr 15 min or so...I finally caught him.

Excitement turned to disbelief as the picture came up on the following screen along with the weight. . .13.8 lbs.

The "monster fish" was indeed a giant sized fish, but the only thing "monster" about it was its fight-pattern. Just like how a 19 lb. fish can be easy to catch at times...I have been trying to catch an average fish with the toughest and rarest fight pattern.

Having said that...I will be negotiating a rematch for double the stakes when my health is back to normal.

Furious, but it made sense at the same time. It was the perfect slap in the face after such a tedious and stressful battle.
Up until now...I had never caught it and just assumed (due to enormous size) that the fight indicated its weight. This is bc every fish that size before has weighed over 15 lbs. I just managed to find a 13 lb. fish with the toughest and rarest fight pattern.

The whole time I was on the edge and I paced myself with pausing every 10-15 minutes or so. (The main problem is that you get used to the blinking warning on your line snapping and its easy to hold it too long after a while. Especially when you start to get anxious and want to get the fish in.)
In the end, I managed to perfect a tapping trick when reeling that my opponent used in the earlier lakes.

The trick wears down your fisherman fast, but allows you to pull the fish in closer and make up ground. Eventually, I got it within 3 ft. and just pulled hard off and on to get him in. He was still at full stamina when this happened. To catch each fish they have to be reeled in to 1.6 ft. This fish reeled to 1.8 ft. several times, would go nuts, and swim back out to 20 ft. It was ridiculous.

Its well worth re-visiting. There's nothing more satisfying than crushing that smug Hank Parker.
