I'm excited for the metroid run.

That Goldeneye run had some pretty awful moments (bunker 2, both cradles,) but all in all 1:20 is fine in a one try situation. I think |34ss |3oost's PR is like 1:11 so 1:20 is decent for him.

The Super Monkey Ball runs were by far the most entertaining for me. Nonstop crazy skill. Genuine applauding from the audience without someone having to tell them to. Vods of all games so far here:

Yeah Super Monkey Ball was pretty insane. I mean I figured out some of those skips he did, but I could hit them maybe 2-5% of the time. Hitting them consistently was pretty insane.

Yeah, I agree with both of these (didn't watch the Pokemon but the idea of "speedrunning" a JRPG through huge exploits seems massively unentertaining.) In general, runs with minimal glitchiness seem vastly preferable to me as speedruns.

EDIT: Is there any sort of consensus list on Top 10 most impressive speedruns?

it legit took me tens of hours to do some of the levels in smb2 and he just breezes through it like nothing

OOT any% was damn amusing. Never had any idea the game could be beaten in under 23 minutes.

I guess I should say that what I meant was in the community more broadly rather than this specific event.

"the speedrunning community" is far too vast unfortunately to pick out a specific few runs. I know what the great OOT/MM runs are. I can link you to some sick Goldeneye/Perfect Dark/Mario Kart 64 single level runs. But as for "what are the best speedrunning WRs?" there really isn't consensus (mainly because of how different each game is.)

That being said of course Sig's 1:44:01 120star is pretty sick, as are all of his 1:44:XXs. I'm not sure how many people have even subbed 1:50 so 1:44 is pretty insane.

I don't think he preserved vids of his 1:44s (beyond his first one on Sept 1) because he hated errors in them and wanted 1:43. Failure to preserve WR runs is common among speedrunners and is very annoying and stupid.

That's the 1:44:52 he did after streaming 12 hours every day in August (finally achieved on Sept 1 lol.)

WR is 1:44:01 so it makes watching that run irrelevant, but whatever.

People should note that SDA is not a WRs site. It simply hosts good quality fast runs of games. So don't take everything you see on SDA as the WR. Some are, most aren't.
