Lol yeah not sure how Puncay got that run accepted. He is a top tier Mario 64 runner, but clearly hasn't played Bomberman much. Early tell was when he said "This is the first boss out of...a bunch of bosses." Then the game overs.

Yeah, I can understand if you're going for a WR that it might save a bit of time, but unless there's some sort of actual in game advantage or a donation incentive then it seems kind of silly in a GDQ setting

Calling it a rage quit seems overdramatic. He was being hard on himself but was in the process of restarting the run and was told he couldn't due to time constraints.

I'm not at all familiar with the run but from what I understand a combination of bad RNG in a fight causing him to overwrite every quicksave slot and then mistakes that would require him to reload a safety save that had been overwritten are what killed the run.

Close enough imo - he was clearly tilted and not enjoying "always doing bad on camera when every practice run was perfect".

Vice City run is awesome btw - as usual. I miss Cone Crazy though. I don't really know why.

Years ago (2012?) the FF9 run was ~12 hours (they did 6 hours one night, and then the 2nd half was that GDQ's finale).

Even more ridiculous was that one of the final bosses (DeathGuise) had a ~25% chance to end your run due to pure RNG (Meteor spell). You have to reeeaaally love FF9 to go through with such a run, knowing you can be on WR pace and still come up short due to no fault of your own.

I mean I kinda get it, FF9 was a helluva fun game.

I know a few people who will be participating. I probably won't watch a ton of it aside from that. I like speedrunning stuff but I'm not deep into any particular game.
