Added VODs to the OP. I missed 5 years worth, lol. But always one of my favorite events. Nostalgia of the blind folded Punch out, Whitegoose getting loose, YSG and him playing ecco the dolphin. Good times.

tuned in for the Dark Souls 2 run and the announcer is asking if he can read a donation basically every 30 seconds since the start of the run, plus constantly interrupts to give updates on how much was donated/incentives. All the money goes to charity, so it's theoritically great, but maybe they could try not to interrupt the runner constantly? I don't remember anything like that in the past, and this is the only souls game in this year's schedule

edit: ok, now the announcer doesn't even ask, he just interrupts the runner and reads them right away

I just watched Running With Speed.

Was a great doc. If I wasn't so old I'd try my hand at speed running. Can do SMB in 6:30 or so, which is nowhere near world record but feels fast for me.

Years ago I could do these “poor man’s speedruns”:

TMNT (NES) - 40 mins
Zelda 1 (NES) - 45 mins
Zelda LTTP - 1hr 55 mins

I’ve always joked that my familiarity with these 3 games is a borderline mental illness. I could basically draw all the Zelda dungeon rooms from memory and tell you exactly how many & type of each enemy were in each room.

Yeah, I've never got close to anything. I'm within a minute on 100 lines for NES Tetris but that's free for anyone that can play 19 remotely competently, have 2hr dead on Vice City dupeless but nobody really runs that and a good run would be below 1:30. Intending to try Super Metroid again at any time but I have no idea what my RTA time was, I have 1:10 in game time but that's pretty ****

I missed this Dragon Warrior run in 2018 - this is possibly the most impressive speedrun I’ve ever seen - the runner uses audio cues to know where he is in the RNG cycle the whole time - so if he needs to hit, say, 8 consecutive 1-in-64 dice-roll shots, he knows how to do it.

The commentary is superb/A+ too.

I'm more of a shmupper than a platformer, so this run that's a score attack, not a speedrun (because the game is mostly auto-scroller) by gus is the sickest run to me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7d76YdrGawE&t=2100s timestamped for the final boss, that's the main course. Some people criticized this because even though it's an Amazing Game, it's not Done Quick.

SGDQ has started. It's live and looks like masks are optional this time. I thought I read they were mandatory, but current runner is without one as is one of the guys on the couch.
