Things are not going well today.

Yeah I've exhausted my initial tickets due to my mediocrity. I could not care less about constructed, so I think the correct play from here on out is to just play the pleb mode drafts.

Several disappointing second losses. One was a "Woah, I'm not even mad, that's amazing" where dude who depleted his hand with that discard creep on the turn prior, and then drew into 2x Disciple of Nevermore to throw on my newly spawned 80hp middle tower in a lane that contained around 15 units (mostly plague wards), including what I assumed was a stranded and largley useless Veno/Necro. Absolutely obliterated it in a single turn. I would've won in the final lane that turn. Losing that game wasn't even a possibility in my mind. Heart of the cards, I guess. I see a lot of 3 color drafts from opponents, but mine are usually only dual color.

I failed to recover my event tickets in my last two drafts, each of which included an Axe. My opponent did what I usually do when I ran into one and that is immediately sac that lane and just ignore him. Worked as well as it did for me, which is to say pretty well. 2-2 in both.

There is nothing wrong with playing the casual drafts. That's what I do. I've been learning a lot. With my garbage draft, I'm 2-0-1 so far. Just tied with someone when I thought I was about to win.

Knowing what I know now, I kind of want to abandon my current draft and start over, but abandoning feels so dirty. I guess it's also an opportunity to learn the cards since there is nothing to lose.

It's kind of disappointing to not have any progression or reward at the end, but I can't complain. I've never played a game that allowed free drafting and I really like the idea that I can play with every card even if I don't own them.

Stupid question incoming. The only way to get packs is through Expert Constructed (4 wins), Phantom Drafts (4 wins) or Keeper Drafts (3 wins).

Maybe I'm missing something. How exactly do you collect cards to eventually recycle? I mean, if you're playing the Expert modes and not winning at least 3-4 games consistently, then eventually you'll run out of tickets and not ever win packs for more cards.

EDIT: And if you run out of tickets, you're screwed? You're basically forced to pay money for packs or tickets.

You have everything down correct. I don't think there's any shame for people to play the free one exclusively if they're kind of nitty or whatever. It's just slightly less competitive.

Basically if you come from Hearthstone then you have some idiot human bias to assume packs across games are somehow equivalent to each other. Here packs contain cards that have literal monetary value so they can't give them away willy nilly. Packs in hearthstone however are almost completely worthless.

Ticket is a dollar for at worst like 2 or 3 hours of entertainment, not really robbery.

It's not the dollar, it's the fact that the dollar only serves to create the minigame of getting the dollar back. Or, for people who will play constructed, it could be a more money-efficient way of getting packs.

I suppose if someone is good enough to never get fewer than 3 wins in Draft, you can be making about 18 cents an hour, payable only to your Steam account.

I opened my 10 starter packs and got a Drow, but I didn't have an authenticator so I can't sell it for 2 weeks. It'll probably be down to 2 bucks by then.

because when you get 4 and 5 wins you get 1 or 2 packs with 12 cards each

it only takes 20 common cards to get free tickets, even without taking into account the rares you might find and could sell for good $

yes if you lose your first few tickets you have to spend a bit of money somewhere. but you also got a lot of cards just from the starting 20$ package which you can sell or recycle until you get better at the game

I was real horrible the first day playing the game but now I've got three perfect runs and feel like I'm playing pretty good.

I love the gameplay but kinda hate the actual drafting. There's not a huge card pool and then one of the colors is terrible and half of the cards are unplayable. In pack five of one draft I always want the same cards I do in pack five of another draft.

I watched the last series. Throws and counterthrows. Sick deck you've got there. This next dude is even more ridiculous though. =/

Felt like the first 2 games were blowouts in either direction. First game I drew all of my black splash cards and couldn't do much overall while in the 2nd game everything just went right for me. Third game was close and I probably could have taken it with better play, it's tough at 2am though.

The best blue draft deck I've had so far. Worth noting that I really didn't open any good heroes or rares, but consistent game plan goes far.

I'm probably an imbecile of the highest order but after 25h of gameplay, I just now noticed that items in your opponents hand have a goldish outline to them so you can easily differentiate between their actual cards and items.

It also lets you see if they bought bunch of stuff or just 1 19-gold item.

Shop deed's wording is interesting. I guess we'll see some cards that mess with the other players item price in future expansions.

oh my god i just won the most insane comeback ive had

Guy had sorla and a ton of fat minions in first lane, was gonna do 58 next round on my 15 tower, my 3rd tower was getting cored for 50+

all my creeps keep being sent middle which i already won, he intimidates one of my heroes to 2nd lane again im pretty effed. My beastmaster is dead for 2 turns, my only green hero is stuck mid.

I use aghanims sanctum from middle to send to first lane, with venomancer respawning next round.

on next round i bait a 9th minion from (he had a damaged thunderhide, a MASSIVE champion of the ancient, ogre conscript, a FAT sorla keefe and abaddon.

I pop my aghanims sanctum, hello topdecked echo slam, wipe everything at exact hp of conscript and sorla hp except keefe and abaddon

middle lane I Lost in Time lock his only 2 cards and his item.

he almost one shots my 3rd lane

next turn i roar keefe and aba , cunning plan my beastmaster out of tanking keefe, put a couple weapons on my 2 heroes for exact lethal

The quote I saw about the wording of Shop Deed was that they wanted everything to be as "modular" as possible.

"What happens when you get two Shop Deeds?" and he gave the camera a sly grin.

So yeah, if you get 2x Shop Deeds, the secret shop literally pays you to take the item.

Ya there are some tricks in the game like that right now, like Rend Armor which is an awful card but there are interesting stuff you can do with it.

Like if you have centaur and use his card on himself, you have -8 armor, rend armor gives you back 8 armor to 0, but the -8 is this turn only, while rend armor is a permanent modify. So after that turn you'd be +8 armor base

Holy **** thats a sick combo. definitely going to keep my eye out for that one just cos it would be great to pull it off
