Yeah might be nice.

I really recommend just dropping in a semi-hot zone. That is, don't drop to the most obvious place that everyone will go (the ship if it's close, the blue circle if it's close, otherwise the places closest to the start. But drop to the next most obvious places - like say 300 meters off the path, close to the start. You'll get one team going with you. Grab any gun, stay close to your team mates and get to it.

You'll die a lot, but then it's like 1-2 minutes to get going again. Helps a lot.

Yep, just hotdrop.

I think the map could handle 80 man games. Definitely not 100 though.

I'm curious what will happen with competitive play if it happens. In normal play, half the player pool drops to one play, all but 5 of them are dead in 60 seconds. So the map is really big enough for about 35 people. In pro play, people spread out and take small areas per team, and I'm not sure there's enough room for that.

I'm still trying to figure out my new mouse and the DPI/sensitivity settings, but I actually made a couple clutch plays last night (I mostly played like ****, but it was fun to have a moment). After one in which I took out two opponents in close quarters when my teammates were down*, one of my teammates marveled at what I had done. I informed him it was the best thing I had ever done in the game and to not expect anything like that again.

We died a couple minutes later.

*Part of my success including something that was actually strategic. I was Lifeline and when one opponent remained, I baited him by starting to revive one of my teammates. Since I had the revive shield, he had to come in close, so I stopped reviving and popped him with a shotgun. Look at the brains on me! I still had trouble during the fight making decisions quickly - I kept changing my mind - but once I settled down and focused on one thing at a time, I actually did something positive.

Saw a verrrry obvious hacker today. He wrecked a teammate in 0.1s and then did the same to me, taking me from level 3 shields to dead instantly through my poison gas. We spectated and he did it to more people (ended up with 20 kills or so). Obviously had some kind of lock on, he would sometimes shoot at the side of a building or a rock that had someone behind it. Once it got to 1v1 he was basically just screwing around firing smokes into the air and stuff like that. We actually didn't stay to watch the finish. By the time it got to the end he had like 8 spectators.

What is bloodhound saying here? "Today will be our day... fart reaper" or "fight reaper" or "fight breaker" or what?

Played some great games today. Multiple 20-squad kill wins. Was working hemlock full kitted which was just tearing through people and peacekeeper

The best games are when the squads just keep rolling towards you but there's just enough time in between to heal.

Let’s say your in situation where you have low health/shields, a teammate knocked down, right next to an enemy knocked down and your not entirely sure if other squad is gone but there is no more active shooting. I’m always confused if my first priority should be A) exploring to see if any other bad guys or B) revive teammate or C) finish off knocked down enemy or D) healing yourself back up?

Depends on how much time your team mate has left. People rush to revive but the time is suuuuper long. When your buddy gets up he's going to need 10s to heal, one of you needs to be able to move/fight/etc. So I generally vote for heal yourself first, revive your team mate second, thirst the guy 3rd.

On the other hand I think people delay respawns too much. I would go to respawn even if at half health, because the respawned guy will need a long time before he's useful, I can be healing myself when that happens.

I played like 30 games today and got 2nd like 8 times with no wins. **** my life.

Healing is priority imo almost always if you are very low

If you have 100+ health, I'd revive

Just unlocked caustic today and have found him super fun. Been way easier for me to get kills as a beginner but assuming some reason I rarely see others play him

His abilities are mostly useful inside, and a lot of players don't like to spend a lot of time inside. His ult has a short range and a small cloud, and placing traps outside is (mostly) pointless with a few exceptions. If I need to heal in a fight I'll get into a nook, place 2 traps and set them off. I can see through the mist, my opponents can't, and it slows them. It also makes you a target for grenades.

The biggest problem with him is... he's big. I think he has the 2nd largest hitbox after Gibraltar. Gibraltar, btw, has a hitbox about 2.4x as large as Wraith's. Wraith has very useful abilities in combat and is very small, so you'll see her used a lot. Same with Bangalore, and Lifeline's abilities are very good for support. The 3 women characters are the smallest also.

People very rarely play Gibraltar, mostly to screw around or blow off steam, because he's huge.

I would say that the actual abilities of legends are reasonably well balanced, but since the big ones are much easier targets, their *relative* usability is worse.

Yeah all very true. Gibraltar is so unusually played that I actually had never faced his ultimate before until a couple of days ago in a final 3 squad showdown and it totally wrecked us. It's like an immediate Bangalore, whose passive and smoke are way more useful than her ultimate.

I think popular opinion is Lifeline is most important to any comp but I think Wraith is, provided the player is proficient enough.

I learned the other day that you can throw gibraltar's ult inside a building and it will come down on top, which is great when your opponents are on the building above you

Battle pass for season 1 out tomorrow.

I don't get the point of buying the Battle Pass. So you get a bunch of skins for $10? Ok. I do see that some of the rewards are Apex Coins, so I'd be curious how many of those can be earned - maybe it's worth it to help pay for the next Battle Pass.

I can't imagine I would level up enough to get many coins, anyway.

One thing that's good is that it looks like you can just play and level up during the season and then buy the Battle Pass later (during the season, that is) and get all the level rewards retroactively.

It's not for everyone. I don't really get why people would pay money for skins, but, well, they do, in massive quantities.

Note that if you sign up to Origins Access ($4.99/mo) you'll get 1000 apex coins ($10 value) and you can cancel after 1 month. Once you sign up the coins (and an epic skin) will appear in your Apex Legends account.

I do think that at least some of it is altruisim. The developer puts some work into skins and challenges and stuff to unlock, you pay them a bit, it keeps the game going.

Seasons and Battle Passes also give the sense of a passage of time, same as in regular sports. We don't just amuse ourselves with the all time win/loss record of sports teams, we care about "this year" or "this season" etc.

i dont care about skins like ever. only battle pass ive ever bought was pubg simply because there was a name change ticket if you hit max level for the sanhok one, so i thought it would be interesting to have as a unique possible option. then they released it to buy for $15 like 2 months later lol

never again, but i understand why they exist.

Is there going to be any new guns in tomorrows update? I think no but not sure.

Also +1 to never spending money on something that is free.

I mean if no one spends money on it the game goes away. Not that there’s any obligation but there’s a reason to reward people who create content you like. That said the Pass is pretty lackluster, not excited to spend $10 on it given how little I’ve played lately. I can see the appeal of cosmetics but less so when there’s a lack of customization and even less when a game is first person; does anyone notice skins outside of the start of the game? I’m on the fence but considering getting it because I like Respawn and want to see how I feel about the sense of progression with the pass.

I've never been a big BR guy but is the battle pass akin to ranked mode for other games? I.e. you only play versus other battle passers. So it's more serious?
