Yeah I had like 6 or 8 awful rounds in a row last night, just getting destroyed every round, no kills, etc. Then had a good one or two and I'm hooked for another few days at least.

We had a funny one the other night where it got down to 2 teams. The other team was making a bunch of noise, shooting, baiting us etc. I was like... this is really not a good sign. And it wasn't, they shredded us like it was nothing.

Something about a leak showing the road map for 11 more heroes just happened.

Also it feels like they could add more teams/2v2/1s to this map it's big enough for that imo.

As in like 75 players for 3s ect.

Well, there was also a leak that showed there was movement towards solo / duo but also larger teams, I think 6, 12 and 24. There has also been some rumblings about other mans.

I personally love duos, both because it's easier to get a "full team" of just your friends but also because you get a rhythm going, there's less discussion and negotiation, etc. Also, you rarely turn a corner and are faced with 3+ opponents.

The AL map seems a little small. It's not bad for 60 people but I'd also like to see slightly bigger and more people. But they also probably really need to put work into their netcode, from what I've seen it's not great.

I could see duos, but even though I play alone mostly don’t think I’d enjoy solo; part of the appeal of this game is the teamwork aspect and being able to get revived. Also cosmetics are too expensive but I’d pay for more heroes.

Just got a nice little surprising win with a couple of low level randos. Didn’t see any combat until the end but I think we finished off a weakened squad, geared up, and took out the remaining 2. I had a spitfire with high level attachments and it was just a beast at medium-long range. I think thats my favorite gun now, paired with either a peacekeeper or wingman although I’ll take a few of the light ammo guns as well if I’m just using them for close range.

Since I just installed a new SSD in my laptop, I decided to install Apex to see how it runs on a different PC (it's a low-end "gaming" laptop). Didn't crash once, as opposed to my desktop PC. It's probably the processor thing I read about.

Problem is that the laptop has a smaller monitor and I need a better mouse for it.

Had a really dumb end to a game yesterday.

Had the full squad with one squad remaining. Get to Round 5 and the circle starts zeroing in on a rock shelf in the north center of the map (not exactly sure where it is, it's not an area I'm frequently in. Just north of the pit.

The only way to get to the top of the rock shelf is by balloon and the other squad is already on the high ground. So we do the long range back and forth for a bit then we eventually get to the base of the rock shelf. We discover there's no way to get on top of it. One of their two guys jumps down and we eliminate him and can heal up.

Then the standoff ensues for like a minute or so. My two teammates run out of the ring and to the balloon launcher. Apparently riding the rope up when outside the ring makes you take damage super fast because they both bleed out almost instantly. Then I lose the 1v1 and we take 2nd.

The ring gets deadlier each round, i assume it was just that? Unfortunate ring placement

The sensitivity number doesn't really mean anything by itself, because mice can have different DPI - my mouse has configurable DPI. Your true sensitivity is probably best expressed as in-game sens times your DPI. But I think it's just simplest to express it in "how many inches do I need to move mouse mouse to do a complete 360"

For me that's like 9-10". A lot of great players have REALLY low sensitivities.

I think my mouse dpi is set to 2000, in-game I have it set to 1.2

Huh, Im sure this mouse has a changeable dpi, no clue how to do it. Makes me wanna google a bit here...

I'm down to like 0.8 sensitivity with 2400 DPI.

I'm limited by physical space on my desk, so I don't think that helps me out. But .8 sens seems like you're swinging your mouse had like 2 feet right and left to move around?

This is why I think it's so useful to describe mouse sensitivity via inches-to-360. At 2000dpi/1.2 sensitivity I'm at like 9-10 inches. At 2400/.8, he's probably at like 12 inches for a full 360 (6" to do a 180, which is really NBD)

I have a "medium" sized gaming mouse pad, which means it's 50-60% bigger than a normal one. They make *giant* ones. All the pro players have sensitivities well below half mine, and sometimes they'll show a camera angle of their hands and yeah, "big" movements like turning around require their whole arm to move, and they aim with just the wrist. They get incredible precision this way though.

There is also an argument that once you get good, you are processing data at a higher level, you're taking all in the info in at once and you have much better "map control" - you know where people "are" or "should be" based on all the info you've taken in, so you don't NEED to swing 180 degrees as often - you generally know whether your back is safe.

There's also pure map knowledge at work. I had the opportunity to watch really good streamers on a brand new map in PUBG once, and their god-like powers were way diminished, and that's when I realized that once accustomed to a map, a really good pro player just knows where to look to find people. So when he snaps right to someone's head, it's because he knows where his mouse needs to go before he has even seen the person shooting at him. When he doesn't know a map, he has to acquire the target like the rest of us, which slows him down.

I really am never going to be great at these games. I'm old, I'm slow, I lack sort of the spark or creativity that good players have, but also, man, they put serious time in, and it pays off.

It's a record-breaking game, can't stop enjoying it. Definitely deserves its own thread, thank you for creating it. <3

Wew go me! I really liked both Titanfall games so I was pretty hyped when I heard about this despite its lack of fanfare, glad it’s done so well and been something that’s gotten its hooks into me. Now where’s that Battle Pass at??

So Im playing apex legends with a few friends of mine, and our squad gets wiped and I look up and see... my son's apex legends name. He wiped us out of nowhere.

I don't know whether to feel proud or ground him

If you want to play with him, add willb1234. What he lacks in originality he makes up in, uh, being a 13 year old kid.

Got my first W tonight. Me and a buddy were duoing and got absolutely carried by a really friendly Wraith player. By far the most aggro match I've played yet, he was moving so fast around the map we barely were able to even keep up and contribute to fights, we were moreso there to just help ping and callout and he'd do the heavy lifting.

I'm still a total spaz in most fights but I have my moments. R-99 is my go to now, usually paired with a Peacekeeper. Carbine is alright, I have pretty much stopped using any of the heavies. Too much recoil and spray.

Game is really good though. Lots of fun with friends.

Man am I terrible at this game. Because of the crashing problems, I took a break from it, but when I played last night, I was still as bad as ever. I'm pretty solid at FPS games, but BR games are a different beast. I think I get too jumpy when a fight breaks out - I need to stick to a plan of action and slow down so I can aim better.

I made it to third place by myself in a game. My team tried to hit the dropship immediately, but so did other teams, so we got instantly destroyed. I escaped but clearly couldn't get back to save them. They both disconnected. I think I actually had a chance to get better than third, as I was in a good position and knew at least one opponent was coming and didn't see me, but I basically panicked and died.

Tangent: I realized I had Titanfall, which I bought for $5 quite some time back, so I installed it and gave it a go. I don't know why I expected anything different, but there were 22 players online. There was one game going, so I played a bit - it was fun! Maybe I'll be able to get my five bucks worth of enjoyment out of it.

I had a blast with both Titanfall games, but last time I booted up TF2 it was pretty hard to find a game other than Attrition (basically Team Deathmatch). I also tried the multiplayer in Modern Warfare Remastered (free from PS+) and man did that feel dated. Zero verticality, just people running around in a big ugly death box. I do enjoy the frequent unlocks but they seem to have come up with a confusingly modern upgrade system, presumably to monetize cosmetics.

What I need out of Apex right now is some sense of progression and maybe some friends to play more consistently with; I enjoy the tension of playing with randoms but for some reason winning is oddly not that satisfying to the point where I will usually do something else after a win. I saw rumors that Battle Pass and new legend will be out March 12, hoping it injects a little life into the game for me. Still enjoying it but not keeping my attention as much without those aforementioned items.

I wish the progressions was not quite so automatic (i.e. if you play games you will progress, even if you're terrible). It's not an elitism thing, kind of the opposite. I feel like I have to hide my kill stats because they "should" be higher for the level I'm at.

I don't play with randoms that much. Probably 2/3 of the time I play with friends, 90% of the rest with random 2+2ers or people I "know" from other similar communities. I like random games more in AL than PUBG etc, but still not very much.

Also, I think there could be better matchmaking - I don't know if there's any at all right now. I enjoy playing with people who are a bit more on my level, right now I feel like I get stomped on pretty bad in a lot of games by people with 2000 kills, etc.
