Snipers are occasionally good, but yeah, it's too easy to revive so downing someone at a distance isn't really that useful. Most kills are at close range. Peacekeeper and wingman are great. The LMGs are pretty good, and most of the ARs are good. The SMGs and other pistols are under powered.

I don’t have anything to back it up but I’d guess spitfire and peacekeeper are my best weapons - spitfire has been surprisingly good for me at close range. Yesterday I picked up a Mozambique and got killed by someone who didn’t have a weapon :/

I'm still getting tons of freezes and crashes with this game. It's to the point where I don't know if I'm going to keep playing until I read about a fix.

From what I've read, the devs know about it, that it's some problem the game has with AMD FX-6xxx processors. I have an FX-6300 (I think - I'd have to go check). The game runs great when it doesn't crash and I have no problems with anything else I have played on that PC. I just need it to stop freezing and/or crashing.

I read that there's some solution where you disable a couple cores, but a) I don't feel like ****ing with that, and b) I read it really hurts performance.

It's unfortunate you're having problems. I've heard some of the newest nvidia cards have problems also, and work reliably only with a specific older driver or 2.

For guns I like wingman and/or peacekeeper early, and mid/late game I like (wingman or peacekeeper) + (something full auto)

The wingman is really so great, especially if you can get a big mag for it, 12 fairly rapid shots with 90 headshot damage, 45 body damage. If you land even 2 hits your opponent will head for cover to try to heal.

Man the peacekeeper with the focusing mod thing is so great.

I run an 8th gen Intel i3-8100 and an RX 580 4GB. Honestly the podlaunch freezes were happening to me very regularly in the first few days, then I downloaded the newest driver (I'm not sure why my Radeon tool hadn't done this...) and everything has been flawless since.

As I post that and start playing, I get a couple podlaunch crashes. Ha.

Assuming you all have push to talk on pc, what button is it? The tilda key is mine, but I over reach and hit esc sometimes which brings up the menus. Don't know if theres a better one?

I have a "gaming mouse" that has buttons on the side. I use the one under my thumb as push to talk.

I also made sort of a custom foot pedal thing, and sometimes I use that for push to talk (it's a collection of foot switches that I can assign keystrokes to. I used it in PUBG a lot to do "leans" right and left. Thinking about how I might use it in Apex Legends, maybe grenade or med selection or something, although that might verge on cheating)

Yeah I just a mouse button for push to talk as well but the in game voice quality has been awful. Whenever I'm with randoms their mics all are just god awful. Discord with friends ftw.

It is really annoying that they don't let you change from toggle to hold for the map or inventory. Toggling is the worst.

Just won my first match. I had 0 kills and died right at the end, but my team cleaned it up. I have yet to kill anyone in this game. Doesn't seem like I do much damage when I shoot.

Still trying to figure out what I'm doing. I was messing around in training mode to see how the inventory worked and tried all the guns. So far, this is the BR game I've been waiting for. I'm not a fan of PUBG and I hated Fortnite's building mechanic. I like that this is a modern game and not a reskin or a mod (I think that's the word?).

Yes, of course. It just seems like I shoot and see damage numbers like 17 17 17 17 17 and it's not killing them. I know there is a lot of health, but just seems like there is a long time-to-kill.

Even after I died I was watching my teammates and they were doing a lot of spraying. I saw someone level 25 with 0 kills too.

So I have reload and the map on those buttons, or that doesn't sound like a bad spot.

I was actually thinking of getting a new mouse which has 2 extra buttons on it for stuff like this. And my current one is like 6 yrs old.

Yeah so base health is 100, with full shields it's 200. Takes a lot to put people down. Gun fights can last a long time.
* punches do 30 damage and deal a bit of knock back. I have successfully killed lots of people with guns by punching them
* there are some high damage weapons, like the peacekeeper and wingman. Both do near 100 damage with a solid head shot. Gotta hit your shots though.
* strategic reloading is an important skill, which I suck badly at


It only shows stats for the given character - lots of people have characters they play rarely if at all. But also there are probably plenty of level 25 people with very few kills, since you get a fair amt of points no matter what.

Holy ****. I just got my first two wins... consecutively.

I did absolutely nothing in the first one. My teammates spread out immediately and just went around killing people. I caught up to one who was 1v3 and I got killed. He beat the whole team and respawned me. They then went lone wolf again while I looked for gear. Eventually we won and I was never in a fight beyond the one in which I died. 55 damage.

I actually contributed to the second win as Bangalore. 3 kills, including the champ. Used my ultimate and smoke well. Key move was ulting the last team while the ring was closing. Knocked one and he bled out outside the ring so our final fight was a 3v1.

I really like the map and the pace of this game. Favorite setup is G7 scout and wingman.

Y'all have converted me to the R301 carbine/wingman combo.

I’m just happy to have some sort of mid-long range weapon and a short range one, though something like the R-301 probably counts for both and the wingman is pretty useful at medium range too. I usually avoid the Prowler and Devotion without hop-ups, snipers other than the G-10, the pistols (although they aren’t terrible in a pinch in the early game), and of course the Mozamweak.

I thought I was getting better but my skill seems to ebb and flow, wherein some games I am perfectly competent and others I am absolutely useless. Was thinking about giving it up but then I go and have a few solid to great games with randoms and I’m right back in.
