Anyone else here Travian? - Page 3 - Video Games

The only way you get ahead in this game is to steal resources from other players. If no one can steal resources from you (or kill your troops at home) and you can steal from them, then it's pretty good. The only other benefit you get from starting early is the extra culture, which an experienced player can easily make up for with resources anyways. If you are a goldwhore then it's all gravy.

One of the guys in my alliance will settle a new village and have it to 300 pop within 30 minutes.

Holy crap, that must cost a fortune.

I'm struggling with when to conquer oases and whether it's worth it or not (double wheat oases for croppers aside). At what general point do you guys start grabbing these (assume mid-server life for beast numbers)?

If you snag a 15c you should definitely grab 3 oasis for it (granted they're all at least 25% wheat)

Got a 50% and one other 25% in my 15c' 7x7...mansion is ready, just need to work on training some clearing troops. The 50% oasis has some nasty beasties.

I can't imagine playing this on a non-speed server. It's slow enough as it is. I played ukx round 3, got banned for literally no reason in round 4, going to play round 5 when it resets in a week or two... I double with another guy, here's us near the end (our ww came 2nd

)

Oh, and our biggest attack - this was against the then top wonder - I ****ed up and selected 2 targets for cats, tho it didn't matter as it turns out:

Stupidly forgot to take a screenshot right at the end, I think we got to WW level 98, but had to replace a great warehouse before we could get next level, so we were about 16 hours behind first.

I agree, Travian early game growth is exponential and midgame is linear. It's therefore very important that you get to midgame as soon as you can, and starting a week later, while it has its advantages, does not cut it because you're just so far behind. Perhaps you'll get to midgame a day faster than I did, but it doesn't matter because I'm still six days ahead of you.

Also, you cannot get the good 15 croppers if you start a week late, and this is a huge factor mid/late game. It's just not possible to feed a 400k wheat army without a good 15c.

I am going to start at 6am on the dot of the reset for ukx round 5.

I just destroyed my hammer a couple days ago. I sent 5 attacks at each of this guy's 4 villages, all landing within 2 seconds of each other. He picked the right village to rein I guess. I lost this and then 4 cat waves right afterwards. It's not much but it's what I had built my hammer to so far

I'm thinking about giving this a try. What server should I get onto so that I can get help from you guys if necessary? The only thing I've noticed so far is that travian.com s1 had a reset on the 9th, but as I understand it, most of you are on the S6 or S7 which had a really long time before I can get into battles (2 weeks). Is that correct?

What server should I go on so that you guys can save my ass if need be?

Freakin', I started on there. How do I tell how long I have before my beginner defense goes away? I think it's 3 days, but I don't know how to check. Anyway, I expanded as many resources as I could and now I'm waiting on the first army thing and for my resources to accumulate so I can keep expanding. Seems slow going at the start, but we'll see if I don't give up.
