That's what I mean - sorry, I wasn't very clear. I was in TWP with you...good times.

TS7, we are two. Looking for 1-2 non US players, or people who can play more non-std hours.

We are top 250 act, as is. Third village in 14 days. Use gold.

You don't need to provide gold and we plan to raid a ton more with additional help.

PM me to discuss.

Anyone looking to get back into this game. I am playing on a .com x2 speed server that just hit the half way mark. It is the new ancient europe version of the game where you collect victory points from artys and the allinace with the most at the end wins the server. The nice thing about this version of the game is anyone in the alliance can use artys held within your alliance. Its pretty cool. Anyway, the game has hit that point where people get burned out and I'm looking for players to take over accounts in my allianceas people quit.

Ok TR time for anyone still interested:

I had not played the game since 2010. I was farting around on these forums and ran across this thread, my curiosity was piqued so I decided to roll up on a NA "normal" server. Once the Fire and Sand server opened, I rolled an account on there as well, so I wound up juggling two games for a time (which I do not recommend unless you are dualing one or both).

Things started out OK on both servers. I'm mostly a defensive player in games like this and RTS games (always Gauls) so I did what I did in the old days, built up slowly, expanded only when my first village was fully functional, etc. I got into what I thought were good alliances on both servers. For a time, everything was fine.

On both servers/alliances, leadership wanted us to expand into this specific "cluster" where we could more easily help and defend each other. I was of course fine with that. I was on my 3rd village on the F&S server when alliance leadership made a move to merge with a much larger alliance. I was in favor of the merger because our alliance was growing disappointingly slow, recruitment was trash, communications were poor. I thought it was just what we needed to revitalize the alliance (for everyone) and reignite already-waning interest in the game (for me). Unfortunately, we were NOT told that only the biggest players would be taken in the merger. The rest (myself included) were left to fend for ourselves. It was a really scummy situation. Of course, I could not simply leave my current alliance for greener pastures because my 2nd and 3rd villages were in this alliance's cluster! So I made the decision to delete. One down, one to go.

The TS1 server wasn't much better. In fact, it was worse, because our leadership was virtually non-existent. Really poor communications, lack of info, it was like 35 individuals playing solo games. No coordination at all. Eventually, as will happen, two of the larger alliances started going after us. People started leaving, I had 4 villages in the "cluster" again so I had nowhere to go, of course. I decided to delete that account as well, and as of this morning I'm completely out of the game again.

(I thought about rerolling on one or both accounts, but found out that you can't transfer your gold to a different domain, so I'm just done altogether at this point.)

My take:

This game still suffers today the same issues from which it suffered when I last played in '10. Specifically,

1) It's pay 2 win. I get that they're in business to make money, really I do, and I have no problem throwing 30 bones their way if it will buy me enough gold to finish the round (it won't). But you've got people spending hundreds on gold, expanding at lighting speed, and unless you do the same you simply do not have the ability to keep up. The amount of $ required to be successful, to me, is a horrible value for what you get. You can spend less money than this game requires on an *actual* game and get much greater value for your dollar/euro/ruble.

2) It's a massive time sink. I already knew that, but my god, I was spending hours and hours and even entire weekends in front of my monitor switched between tabs managing everything. This is of course mitigated greatly if you can find someone to dual with you, preferably on the opposite side of the world, but this is not always possible (I tried and tried but even my sitters were US-based). Ironically, despite the amount of time you spend playing the game, most of that time is actually spend doing **** all other than clicking here and there and dodging the occasional attack. The game's simply not fun enough for the time commitment required.

3) Alliances. One has two options here: You can either be in a top-3 alliance, or you can get crushed by one. Unfortunately, I chose my alliances on both servers poorly, and wound up being almost forced out of the game because of those choices. Sure, I could have cut bait with my "cluster" villages, bought more gold and started over with another alliance, but why would I? Especially when there's no guarantee I'm even going to land in a "good" alliance after making that move. It doesn't help when your alliance leadership is comprised of unresponsive dicks. This game really brings out the worst in many people.

I'm glad I gave it another go, and don't completely regret it, but I cannot see myself playing this one again. It's just got way too many negatives, and there are sooooo many better options out there now.

Never again.

I play travian sometimes and enjoy it. I just started com5. I'll give king a try, since I usually play WW hammer and this time I want to try defense.

Some comments about your points:

1) I don't really agree to the full extent. There are a lot of no-lifers and botters, too, who rise the ranks. There are many who have friends funnel them resources early when the friends have no intention of finishing the server. That's all fine. It's not particularly difficult to achieve the top 1% population award even as a casual. Or top 1% offense or top 1% defense or whatever your objective is.

Another thing: if you finish a server, and you have ever purchased or earned gold (via survey or forum game or whatever), you can transfer remaining gold to a new server. I haven't spent a penny on gold and I transfer quite a lot when I start a new server.

2) Definitely. Hugely -EV life time sink. It's amazing how much time some people sink and how close attention they pay to the game. Not worth it.

3) I've been in alliances with dedicated discord channels and I've been in garbage alliances. If you have a good army, you'll find a good home if you want.

Can't blame you; it's not a game I'd recommend to people unless the only thing they value in life is sitting in front of a computer switching between villages for 3 months in the event they need to snipe once or twice.

The only server I ever played was the troll server that had the natars win. 2+2ers were the mvps, especially rynok, who is here but I forget his 2+2 name.

It was a great time for a while.

I did shortly play a server with 2 people from an alliance we had swallowed and they were the most incompetent and just plain dumb people. Nice, but completely idiots and I dropped probably $100 on that round before bouncing. We were building right in the middle of the map, which was fun, but they didn't know how to build troops for ****.
