Here is the official Wii U thread. Lots of details have surfaced recently, as they should since the release is only 2 months away.

Here are the bundles they are releasing (Source: http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/09/...ovember-18th):

Nintendo Wii U $299 Basic Set - Available in White

Nintendo Wii U $349 Deluxe Set - Available in Black

If I was getting one this year, I would get the Deluxe, as I think the value is there for the extra $50, extra memory, charging station, and Nintendo Land easily worth the $50.

A list of launch window games has also been put together (Source: http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/09/...w-release-list) and here is a list of the notable games:
  • 007 Legends
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops II
  • Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
  • Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two
  • Mass Effect 3
  • Madden NFL 13
  • FIFA Soccer 13
  • Nintendo Land
  • New Super Mario Bros. U
  • Ninja Gaiden III: Razor’s Edge
  • Wii Fit U
  • Pikmin 3
  • Darksiders II
  • Assassin’s Creed III
  • Just Dance 4
  • ZombiU
  • Rayman Legends
  • Scribblenauts Unlimited
  • Batman: Arkham City -- Armored Edition

Actually really excited for this now.

Deluxe set AINEC.

Also TVii which is free for those who get WiiU is something to look out for. From a yahoo article: http://news.yahoo.com/nintendo-says-...--finance.html
Quote:
TVii "brings all of your services to one place," said Reggie Fils-Aime, president and chief operating officer of Nintendo of America.

So if you like the TV show "Modern Family," for example, it will pull in the show's episodes from every available source. It's a service that brings together various programming options under one umbrella. Using the tablet controller, owners of the system will be able to search for content from Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, live TV and even their own DVR.

The service also captures scenes from live TV and displays them on the controller. Viewers can then comment on the scenes and share that on Twitter or Facebook if they want. With this feature, Nintendo is playing into what many people already do while they watch TV — comment and share things with friends using a second screen such as a smartphone.

Plus if you get the Deluxe set you get Nintendo Premium free (for a year maybe) which gives you no less than a 10% discount of all games purchased digitally.

Bayonetta 2 exclusive and published by Nintendo is so awesome. Was going to buy the deluxe version anyway but that news is just insane. Really excited for this too.

Not real excited by any of the launch titles except maybe Pikmin, but it is nice to see a bunch of third party stuff.

Yeah it's gotta be the deluxe. I would probably pay the extra just for the extra memory but throw in Nintendo Land, charger and the Nintendo premium subscription and it's a no brainer.

Not overly excited to be honest but I'll probably get it at launch just because I get every Nintendo console at launch. Seems strange that it's coming out here (UK) before Japan but I'll take it! 3D Mario game and Zelda soon though please.

Don't think it supports 3D... Or are you talking about Mario 64 vs side scrolling?

Yeah that's what I meant. I'm pretty sure I heard that the Wii U will be compatible with 3D TVs though, but it's not something Nintendo is focusing on right now.

Deluxe seems like a no-brainer if you are buying one of these.

I loved bayonetta so I'm pretty bummed about this. I'm an Xbox fanboy.

Being any kind of fanboy means you're going to miss out on a lot. I love Nintendo, Sony and MS. They all offer something different. Pledging allegiance to any company just seems silly.

No doubt. I'm not hardcore with my love for all things Xbox it's just a preference. Mainly because I can't afford another console anytime soon.

That's another story then. If you can only have one then that's fine but there are a lot of people out there that just flat out don't like the other companies because of fanboyism.

By the way there is another bundle: the ZombiU bundle, which is the deluxe bundle plus ZombiU and a pro controller (looks quite like an Xbox controller). I'll probably go for that one.

Also, I do agree with Kabong in regards to fanboys, but I must admit I am a bit of a Nintendo fanboy. I will give the other consoles a chance, and I own a 360, but I just like Nintendo games better. The vast majority of my gaming is on my Wii, and most of that is virtual console at the moment.

I've been getting excited for new Nintendo consoles since the '64...this time appears to be no different. I'll probably wait until after the holiday season to get mine though - usually a good idea to wait for the initial kinks and stuff to get worked out

Anyone pre-ordered it yet?
Wii U Thread: Released in US on 11/18/12 Quote

Yeah I pre-ordered the deluxe set, NSMB U and a controller pro. If the reviews for ZombiU are good I'll pick that up at launch as well but Ubisoft launch games have been notoriously bad in the past. I hope it's not the Red Steel of Wii u.

Bump.

Gonna pre-order this soon (UK). Do we know if the online shop is going to be available on day one with all the games ready to download? I wanna download my games rather than get the physical copies because of the rewards system but don't wanna find out the shop isn't open yet and end up with just Nintendo Land, lol. I couldn't find anything about this online but maybe my searching skills just suck.

I know that will you have to download a patch on day one which will add all the online features. I also know that they promised Wii to Wii U VC/WiiWare transfering will be available on launch day for Japan so I'd say it's a safe bet that there will be some sort of online shop on day one for you. With that said, PAL usually get screwed when it comes to online and who knows what will be available to buy on day one. Not all games are confirmed to be digital as well. From what I've heard it's only Nintendo games so far.

Ok thanks. I think I'm gonna get the premium console with ZombiU, New Super Mario Bros. U and a pro controller (no Nintendo Land) for £389.99, and then buy Nintendo Land separately, as that works out as the cheapest way to get those games and a pro controller.

What are the prices like in Australia? It's loads more expensive here than in the US .

Also, is there a difference between a Wii remote plus and a Wii U remote plus? The Wii U one is £20 more but there isn't any difference as far as I can tell.

Edit - In fact, a Wii remote plus with Skyward Sword is cheaper than a Wii U remote plus, lol. I'll probably get that since I still haven't played it for some reason despite being a huge Zelda fan.
