Masters of Backgammon-quite good, not the best UI but good traffic and lots of variations.

WordOn-just for fun, good word game.

(Paid)-GTA3, great game, the same as the original PC game with a few minor tweeks, controls can be a bit tricky but it's still very playable, good value for an android app. Battery killer though so be careful.

Some apps I use

2p2-good solid app.

23andme-only has the health version on there no ancestry but still pretty good for a personal genome service

Pokerstove-not nearly as good as desktop version but it's good for an android app.

AndroIRC-can get a bit slow, but the best free IRC app there is.

+1 for stickman golf.

Also hill climb racing is pretty good:

SSG and SSG2 are really great.

Also if you have a tablet there is a multiplayer only gears of war game called Shadowgun Deadzone. It's free to play and runs really smoothly on the tablet I have, TF300t with the keyboard dock so I can plug a 360 controller into it and have a full on controller.... It's awesome.

Crazy Taxi was added this week finally after being ported to iOS last October. Anyone who played this on Dreamcast will know how awesome it was. It plays well on both my phone and Nexus 7

Riptide GP 2 released today:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...vectorunit.red

Is really fun, never played the first game so dunno how much has changed or upgraded but it is a really pretty racing game with a pretty unique approach of jet skis and doing tricks during jumps for boosts etc.

As a tip dont invest in the early skill point tricks, wait for the next level where they give a stronger boost and start with the flip variations as they are less likely to fail and crash you out than the others.

Are there any updated ones worth downloading now (free or fairly cheap)? A couple fun ones I have been playing are Magic Rampage and Ceramic Destroyer, but I have played them before and am looking for something new. Best Fiends was my main time killer but I'm getting a little bored of it now being on stage 675.

Swordigo is a super-fun platformer with creative puzzles. They do a great job of balancing keeping the game challenging but not too frustrating. I wish wish wish they would make a new one someday.

I enjoyed calculator: the game quite a bit. Probably the most I've put into an android game in the last year.

Thanks, I just installed it. I'll put it in rotation with Don't Starve pocket and Paint it back.

Yep, I agree and think it was a very fun game...definitely looking for quality games like this. I just beat Stranger Things which was kind of a fun retro game but fairly short.

You can always try my own game Quantum Cortex!

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...acks.injection

It's a roguelike similar to Pixel Dungeon. Certainly not for everyone, but one of you might enjoy it lol.

Polytopia is a lot of fun if you enjoy Civ games but don't want to spend hours playing. It's effectively Civ-lite, with a few different starting tribes to choose from. You can pay to unlock other tribes but you get the full experience for free with the default ones. No ads. Games last anywhere from 2-8 minutes, very satisfying quick Civ fix.

Also been enjoying Ring Defense. Graphics are legit horrible but it's a fun mindless tower defense that doesn't take up much in the way of resources.

Realm Defense is one that I have mixed feelings on. Tower defense game with phenomenal graphics and fun game play but they are pretty aggressive with the ads and the IAPs. Requires an active internet connect for some of the functionality.

Any recommendations for Android turn-based-strategy games that you guys enjoy? Preferably ones that don't require an active internet connection to play?

It's not out yet but keep an eye on a game called Spin Rhythm. It's by the guys that did Steppy Pants and it's really good. I tested it on iOS but I'm assuming it's coming to Android too.

I just finished this game today. Some of the puzzles were great. Others were crazy random hard. I wish those arrow wrap-around puzzles didn't exist.

The other thing that drove me crazy about the game was how it would burn through my phone battery. This game should use zero battery power. (I'm smacking someone if it was mining bitcoins in the background...)

I'm kind of glad I'm done.

People, what are your thoughts about new Harry Potter game? I mean for me it's a bit difficult to play on a smartphone, and sometimes missions is to hard to pass...
