When did you start buying yourself stuff with poker withdrawals? Did you just keep it all and move up?

Thoughts on making solid supplementary income at NL50?

hey WCG rider...tx for doing this well.
I have read you couldnt beat NL 50 in the past. But Nl 25 seem very very easy to beat.
What was the reason for that and what would you do diffrent now if you would playing NL 50 again with you knownledge now.

thx for answer.

one of your earlier post in this thread says that 100NL is harder because people are making a living there, but im thinking what if you just multitable 25NL or 50NL? surely the profits would be good and it will be easier

oh and, how do you gain knowledge from hand posts from others? im not in a position to give advices yet i dont know what questions to ask, do u have any general guideline?

It really depends on what your playing, how many stakes you have etc etc.

Lets say for example you were playing nl 200 and were staking a couple players, id want at least 10k, but it really depends on your tolerance for variance and can you handle going on downswings for larger %'s of your net worth. How much i send them/when i cut them off is more based off of ther individual circumstances and if i believe in them as a player.

Would you recommend to someone dropping college to play poker full time?
Id say take learning the game seriously, know how to play within your bankroll, and realize you aren't superman(Could use this advice myself =p).

Probably not all of my life, but certainly for the next few years. If i couldn't win i would move on i guess. But i mean at the end of the day there is always fpps!!

I couldn't recommend that to anyone, it comes down to how comfortable you are with poker and would you be ok with the consequences. At the end of the day you gotta do what you gotta do.

I would not worry about it being a big step up, and just try to play my standard game. In reality the levels play very similar and im sure it was short term variance that caused my losses there.

Well i dont think the difference between 25 and 100 is too massive, yet 50 is twice the winnings of 25 and 100 is twice that of 100, so you really should be playing at least nl 100 I think. Also the vpp/rb rate becomes much better for you during those breakeven stretches.

Go through the thread, read the op, decide waht you think. read the answers and really think about them and where you stand. Then post and go from there. You can learn a lot just by trying to learn what people would do, regardless of whether its correct or not.

Hi WCGRider,

I am quite new to the forums (Acctually Ivan Demidov introduced me to 2+2, had the honor to chat to him while playing the Outlast the WSOP 5 on PS). And I've mostly been reading things as opposed to posting. I've been playing for a few years, mostly tournaments. I built a bankroll to 450 dollars from 20 by playing 3.40 stars 10 ppl tournaments. Then I gave 200 away to my GF to play poker, lost around 60 on a downswing, took a break. Now I am back, and I want in on the cashgames! I have around 190 dollars in the account. I was thinking of starting low and starting a new BR for cashgames, like 50 bucks or so and play the 1/2c game.

Now to the questions:
1. Is 1/2c a good place to start? I am not sure cause of the rake they take, it seems like its quite hard to beat the rake at that game.
2. What are the best resources for cash games advice? (Especially some analysis for cash vs. tournament differences? (Is Harringtons Cash game book any good?)
3. I find it that if I am playing just one table I am waay too loose... 30/20 or something (Compared to my tournament games). Should I try playing more tables? ( I do get quite a good TAG statistic when I watch a movie at the same time or play WoW or do anything else.)
4. Do you play tournaments as well or are you just cashing your way to wealth? Why cash games vs. tournaments?

That's it for now, would be grateful if you could answer those for me. And thanks for taking the time to answer everyone elses questions too.

If not how about just de-tarding lessons?

Do you think aejones vids are worth the manies?

If you could choose a coach for me - who would it be and why?

Are some people just born to be breakeven at poker?
How much is talent a requisite? Or can a chimp like me even crush?

1) Sure it is! The softest games on the internet and its the cheapest to learn how to play. Also the rake is LESS here because if it doesnt hit a dollar there is no rake, which is pretty sweet!

2)The micro forums here on 2+2 are the best place for advice, that or the begginners forum. But in general reviewing your own play is good. I suck at tourneys so idk what to say there.

3) I mean if you can play more tables go ahead, but stop calling so much. 30/20 indicates wayyyy too much limping/coldcalling.

4) I play too many tourneys, and probably am negative ev in them anyway. Cash games are where its at.

lol maybe, vs Sfire and Sboy just get it in with good hands and prepare to lose money.

Idk if im adequetely prepared to de-tard osmeone.

IDK never seen them, but aejones is filthy good so i could see it being worth it.

If i could choose a coach, id really have it be one of the top hu guys, guys like internet pokers, mastrblaster, aejones etc etc. They have such good solid thought processes and understand the game so well there would just be so much to learn.

I mean if you want to not breakeven its gonna take some work and some dedication. But yeah anything is possible. Its tough when you go on long breakeven stretches but you should still work on your game.

Got 3k from that transfer but that was all =/.

I'm guessing we both played fairly well during the same time but I didn't do a ton of solo.

was 75-2 before the new ELL (those were the days!) and 3s with Admiral_Thrawn and Inzane.
