Villain running 46/17/3, no reads. Seems like the flush draws missed and maybe he's value raising AQ or worse 2 pair?

BTN: $8.15
SB: $6.73
Hero (BB): $3.44
UTG: $2.10
MP: $2.00
CO: $2.81

Pre Flop: ($0.03) Hero has Q 2

SB checks, Hero bets $0.04, SB calls $0.04

Turn: ($0.12, 2 players) 4
SB checks, Hero bets $0.08, SB calls $0.08

River: ($0.28, 2 players) 8
SB checks, Hero bets $0.25, SB raises to $0.66, Hero???

River: ($13.25) Q (2 players)

I'm never sure with good but not great value hands on this board to raise flop for value or to just call down. In the end I decided if he 3bet me I wouldn't have wanted to stack, and r/f'ing a board where he can be semibluffing an A of diamond sucks, so I chose to call down. Good, or is there a better line?

Bet turn much bigger.
How quick did he bet river?
If he thought about it, flat. If he insta-bet, shove.

Villain has only played 2 of 3 hands, so not a useable a sample. On the river are we just checking behind with showdown value? Is betting the river turning our hand into a bluff or a super (too) thin value bet?

Villain is 13/11...pretty nitty guy. Thoughts on my line. I flatted the turn because there wasn't a lot of value to get from the nit. I think he b/f most of his range and the guy behind me was a fish. C/c river is ok or lead fold? Any value in c/r?

as for river the more i think bout it i wanna fold but i know in game i never will

Not many hands on either player but both have been limping a lot as you'd expect at 2nl. I'm really not sure what to do here.

Should hero just call here? What happens if we get squeezed by the villain in the CO?

Is there any value in raising? Are we stacking off on this flop?

If you're raising, think why you're raising. Is it for value or a bluff?
If it's for value, what worse hands are calling? (none)
If it's a bluff, what better hands are you folding out? (none)

So should really just be calling in this spot?

Pretty sure I murdered this.
Sucks to be oop.
I think I prefer a check / call river to snap off clubs and I KNOW I prefer a half pot if going for bet / fold on the river.
Villain is 40/30 over 10.
Thoughts?

I don't think there is much value in raising. Villain could have anything including made straights, two pair, medium overpair, top pair that's not folding. Also your implied odds are meh because when you make your straight it's too damn obvious and you only get action when you're chopping or losing to a better straight. In game I'd probably call one bet and fold turn unimproved but think it's probably better to fold flop. You're never raising your hand for value unless you hit running 66.

c/c river. He has a draw most of the time here when he c/r this flop. You have an excellent bluff catcher and you can't really bet river for value because people tend to be fairly polarized when they c/r these flops. As played fold.

Hey guys. I started 10NL today, quick question - how big should I be 4betting? Assume 100bb stacks and 3/3.5x open.

Cheers!
uNL Quick Checkup Thread Quote
01-21-2011 , 01:29 PM
3bb - 10bb
3.5 - 11bb
4 - 12bb

Is roughly what I'd go for, depends on villain. Tbh I'd be as unbalanced as you can, if a fish isn't folding to a 15bb 3bet then make it 15bb, if a reg is folding to an 8bb 3bet and you have junk make it 8bb.

sorry and thanks!

Oh nope lol I suck, you did say 4betting. 2.5x is probably fine, 25bb for a 10bb 3bet. I probably go a little bigger vs fish, against more competent players I try and make it look less like I have KK+ and am never folding. As long as its not a min4bet or 35bb over a normal 3bet you're probably ok.
