Played this one on the Stars App

5nl zoom - 6 max

Hero: 10.62 BTN
CO: 15$

CO raises to 12c, Hero 3 bets to 39c with 8s9s, CO calls.

Pot: 85c

Flop: Qh, 3c, 9d

CO checks, Hero bets 29c, CO calls.

Pot: 1.43

Turn: 6s

CO bets 1.03, Hero calls.

Pot: 3.49

River: 2c

CO bets 2.51, Hero raises to 8.91 and is all-in

What do we think of my line here? I figure villain will x/r sets OTF a lot and he probably has Qx here quite a bit. Do we get Qx to fold often enough with a jam or is this only folding out the hands we beat?

your 3bet size is to big IMO, we are IP, no need to go this big. Once he donks this turn, we can just assume he is bad reg or fish. If he has Qx, he is not folding to a shove, and I don't think he is doing it with hand like A9 or TT/JJ, so raise does not make any sense, if you think he has enough bluffs, call, otherwise, fold

We want to have cards that block villains calling range, which here is AQ, KQ, etc...

That's not the case here but your opponent also doesn't have a lot of bluffs either so dont feel compelled to just come up with some.

I guess we jam JJ...

I also xb flop but whatever

Makes sense, I do block 99 though and unblock 10J! That may make it more of a call though

Ah yes, in which case JJ is not a good one! I dunno man the best place to start is actually asking yourself "what value hands do I have here?" and then go about creating bluffs. If you cannot answer the first question then fold, mark that hand and then study it afterwards.

I don't like the river bluff since you have some showdown value. If he's betting a missed draw, just call and you win.

Also, there is no hand in your range that makes sense with your raise on the river. Are you repping 22? Or 45? I don't see him folding any hand that's beating you. Just the hands that you were beating anyway.

I could definitely have QQ, 99 and 66 here. Yeah maybe he doesnt fold Qx, some villains will. He snap folded so probably did have a bluff

My 3 bet size is just a touch over 3x, standard IP. Guess I thought I could get him off Qx but maybe not. What hands do you think make the best bluff jams here?

You could, but why wouldn’t you raise the turn with those?
