Hey fellow cardfighters

Following hand just occured in my session and I want to ask you what you think about my laydown:

Full Tilt - $0.10 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 5 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

CO: $6.84
BTN: $10.00
Hero (SB): $14.15
BB: $10.00
UTG: $25.10

Hero posts SB $0.05, BB posts BB $0.10

Pre Flop: ($0.15) Hero has T T

UTG raises to $0.30, fold, fold, Hero calls $0.25, BB raises to $1.25, UTG calls $0.95, Hero calls $0.95

Flop: ($3.75, 3 players) 7 9 7
Hero checks, BB bets $2.62, fold, fold

Spoiler:
BB wins $3.50

I had about 50 hands on my opponents and they were very tight.

UTG had 17/15, BB had 16/13.

I don't know what i can beat there, he has a higher pair I think.

What is your read on this situation?

I'm very thankful for any advice or criticism

flat and re-evaluate turn. he could have a ton of AK, AQ, KQ, SCs etc. He could be squeezing and then cbetting, theres a ton of hands that you beat that play like this not just JJ+

I don't want to be arrogant or something in my attitude to the game.

But since I am a somewhat decent player at these limits I just think that I can find better spots to play a big pot.

My concept of beating tight players behind me is by stealing their blinds, not challenging them on their actual hands they bet.

These are my thaughts when playing pretty tight in that spot.

What do you think about that reasoning?

Does it make sense?

It's not completely terrible to C/F here

Calling here is just going to be burning money. We're out of position hoping to hit 2 outs and giving him a decent chance to bluff us off if an overcard hits when we're ahead.

Also the fact that he squeezed an UTG raiser preflop and then c-bet into 3 players suggests he's strong. Calling's just lighting money on fire here.

so why are we calling pre here...? Im a nit, but as already mentioned hes squeezing UTG, whos calling. Aint that a bad situation even IP for TT as this board shows?

Well we're 100BB deep with the 3-better and almost 150BB deep with UTG. Surely calling preflop purely to set-mine can't be terrible (probably +EV) and we can take it down at times on this sort of flop when we aren't c-betted. When we're closing the action with odds and full stacks then calling preflop's pretty standard even OOP.

good c/f if they are both tight. tight BB squeezing tight UTG open is a very strong range and might not even include AK. And he definitely does not cbet overcards into two opponents this big every time.

So both pre and flop do eliminate some combos of AK and AQ especially. To me this is a good tight laydown.

3B preflop, force the BB and UTG to better define their hands. If you thought you were beat preflop, why even see the flop? Give yourself a chance to win the pot and force your opponents to tell you what they are holding.

+1 to 3bet pre but only because you'll be OOP and they're pretty nitty, if there were more callers then it's a call because there's more value in set mining.

I was surprised to see people say c/f this flop but having read the reasons and giving it some thought i agree, this is also a spot i would call in. At best they have AK/AQ/KQ/broadways and will shut down OTT, but without reads that they c-bet/shut down a lot there only betting hands that beat you here plus we're OOP and will most likely face more aggression on further streets.

I don't like calling pre and think a c/f is good.

Why would we 3-bet pre? For value or as a bluff? 3-betting to define their hand range is a bad reason for 3-betting. Without good reads about how UTG responds to 3-bets (which we don't have over only 50 hands), 3-betting TT against a TAGish UTG raiser is pretty aweful.
