I know the river call is bad, but this was the rest of my rakeback and I didn't really have anything to do with 3$.
How do you like the rest of the hand?

Check behind on turn, what does a bet accomplish?

Yes, the turn bet was what I felt was wrong.
If I check the turn, how do I respond to a river bet?

The turn bet sucks indeed, he called your flop bet. So that's at this limit a pretty good sign of a draw (against loose passive donkeys). You can't valuebet the turn since your only going to get called when you are behind.

yeh check turn and hope for a full house or a checkdown, fold to a bet. I think that's all you can do.

You need to think more about relative strength of your hand vs. the line villain has taken. Obviously you recognise that a set is not the nuts in this spot, that is good. However, knowing the relative strength of your hand is not good if you do not then play accurately. You should be trying to get to shodwon cheaply in this spot, not value-towning yourself.

FWIW, I don't think checking this flop is a terrible play either.

Agree with you, looking at the play preflop. This is a flop that hits his range pretty hard.

one common mistake of unl players is that they think that a set is somehow better to stack off with vs. a 4 to a straight or 4 to a flush board as opposed to a weak one pair hand.

c/c turn
c/f river.

I obv. didn't bet to get it in on the turn (the bet was very stupid). And a set is much better than a 1pair hand in this situation as it has about 21% chance to make a FH.
When he minraised me I had the odds to call
