Table selection: FT "deep" or regular at 10c/25c NL

The question is, whether to play "deep" or regular?
Deep tables allow 200BB buyin, regular tables 100BB. The average stack size on "Deep" is around 100BB+. The average stack size on regular tables is pretty pathetic due to many shortstackers buying in for 20BB.
I was playing only the "deep" tables because its more challenging and allows more maneuvring, and heck, the name of the game is stacking someone off, so lets do it for $50 instead of $5, right?
What I have observed is that the regular tables are full of fish and easy to win on. The "deep" tables are full of nitty-tight regs with stats like 9/7/3 and they are not easy to win money off! My theory of play deep, be a LAG and reap the rewards of volatility does not seem to be working - when I try to play LAG I get played back at a LOT, and either give it up or wind up making very big and scary bluffs that get called far too often. I am sure the solution is "improve your postflop play", but in the short term, going back to the regular tables and collecting from idiots who shove their $4 stack with second pair seems more profitable.
Thoughts anyone?
PS I have seen a few posts about seat selection, but how in practice do you do it? I play full ring, and there is usually a waitlist, and you sit where you get put! Am I missing something?
