thanks cang / mtag, i'll cut the tables in half and see how that goes.

cangurino, that's basically dead on about fit or fold, so i will be more aggro pf and continue with it on the flop.

mtagliaf, thanks, i will adjust my hud to have that stat show up and will try and get my attempt to steal blinds up to 30 (just re-read the op and saw )

will post another update when i hit 100k hands or so.

thanks again

been playing fewer tables and it feels great... actually have time to use my hud and think about hands, etc, so thanks again guys

can anyone help shed some light on my blinds defense? I'm folding my bb 83% of the time and my sb 87% of the time to a steal. Am i supposed to defend more or less??

edit: i know i should base it on opponents too, like not defend against someone who is a 8/8 vpip/pr as opposed to someone with like 40/40 ish, but is there a general number you want to be around? Like how in the op it says you should have around a 30% steal attempt?

How do you get PokerTracker to show your EV, not just your All-in EV?
Stats and Graphs Analysis Thread Quote

You can't. How would you compute it? As Sklansky bucks?

Ok my bad. My "Net Expected Won" as is shown in a graph further up the page.

You know what I meant.

No, I don't. "Net expected won" in PokerTracker refers to all-in EV, and in your post above you contrast that with "EV". Your actual expected value in a hand depends on a lot of things the database can't know, like your opponent's tendencies.

Hi there

This is my first time posting here.

Some info about me; Im an 18 year old male from the Netherlands and i dropped out of law-school 2 months ago. Then, sort of outta boredom, i found poker and started playing out of boredom.

One day i saw some live poker on TV and i started playing more and more, but noticed i was just ****, i had no BRM and other players on tables were better than me for some reason.

About 11 days ago i actually started to read up on some stuff, and tried Cashgames. Started 5nl and im up to 10nl now, i think i can handle it (Bankroll is $150 at the moment, i know i should play 5nl but ahwell)

U can see from my graph when i really started reading up how to play hands and that kind of stuff, but im sure im still doing lots of stuff wrong, so im hoping you guys can start helping me out a little bit.

Here's my graph and stats for the first 5k hands i've ever played cash-game poker online (Bear that in mind ):

And the stats:

I've read up a little and noticed a 5k sample is a little small, but i think it will do.

I'd appreciate it alot if someone would just point out my biggest mistakes/leaks and stuff i can improve on.

I know my VPIP is way too high Ill try lowering it!

Tyvm in advanced.

Bob

Hello Retrow, welcome to the forums.

Your statistics may be a bit skewed since they include hands from before you started "reading stuff". Moreover, 5,000 hands is really a small sample.

As you have pointed out yourself, VPIP=27 is way too high, and preflop raise or PFR of 7 is way too low in relation. You should try to raise most of the time you put any money in. For many winning players the difference between these two values is around 2. Related to that you can try to steal the blinds a lot more.

Second, it's ok to play on a short bankroll if the prospect of losing doesn't affect your play, and if you have no problem depositing more should you lose it all. If you want to keep your bankroll alive it's better to be a bit more conservative; moreover I'd play a bit longer at a given limit before being too confident that I'm beating it. As I said, 5000 hands is not much.

Anyway, good luck, and keep us posted.

Hi everyone,

Started playing online Hold'em 1 month ago, had never played any kind on Hold'em before (just some draw with house rules).

All these stats are for 2 NL FR shallow tables on FTP.

I know these stats are not much, just 10k hands but if anyone can give any tips or suggestions i'll be very thankful.

quick glance suggests you probably want to lower your vpip slightly and raise your pfr a little. I play FR tho but to me the gap in your vpip/pfr looks too big.

Here are a couple of things that I can immediately see:

You have a VPIP from the UTG position higher than your PFR. This means that you are limping from UTG. I would never open-limp in a 6max game, especially from the UTG position. If this is the one piece of advice you take away from my post, please, please follow this piece of advice.

Your VPIP from the SB is way too high. You are calling from the SB too much, and this is a leak. You need to be folding from the SB far more often. Never open-complete from the SB if action is folded to you. Either fold, or raise (in rare circumstances you can open complete depending on the villain).

My 2 cents, hope this helps you.

You're running hot from the blinds. Like real hot, either you've reinvented blind play or you could likely be a losing player.

mmm i was having this conversation with some1 yesterday on skype about limping PP under the Gun, suprisingly i was saying to Raise : \ um i dont think im limping UTG much at all but i'm probably calling 3 bets (cause we are all very deep 100BB+) and thats mayb why my Vip is high? we also disscussed UTG, with KK or AA and weather i should limp re raise. but yet again i stil dont like this option on really in Tournments.

mmm i dont consider my self be a loosing player : \ i suspose short sample but over 40k hands i have a graph that goes up( bit spiky) just one day i lost half my BR due to playing on a day i never should of played on and buying to a games i never should of bought into. but if we remove that tilting day

i think if you limp utg you let people set mine against you so you pay off when they hit and lose extra dead money you could have won from the raise if they fold...plus its hard to put villain on a range if they limp behind and you polarize your own range

i would think you get raised a lot when you limp in sb and have to fold

....??? confused here.

two points.

im mostly calling from SB if say some1 min raise and couple callers eg CU and Bu, then i think its profitable see flop.

and secoundly i dont get the chance to limp in Sb much ... so how would i be getting raised here alot? only by the BB?

mayb if it fold around to me then yes, im goin get raised off quiet bit, so im not limping. but this is very dependant on what type of player BB is.

Hi there,

I've been playing 2NL for a while now but only really started reading up on strategy at the beginning of this year which is when I majorly improved my positionally play. This took me from a break even player to a winning player. I then later improved my post flop play, notably not shoving when you are only going to be called by better and fold out worse. I also learned a lot about when to value bet and when there is no need.

At the moment I feel like I am solidly beating 2NL so I just wondered if there anything that people can see I am leaking at the moment. Personally I think I might be defending blinds too much/too aggressively to opponents who probably aren't stealing at all. I feel like I'm not playing low PPs good enough and maybe not extracting value against draws with a mediocre but probably better hand. I also go tilt sometimes and act like an idiot which directly correlate with steep declines in the winnings graph!

Here's my graph and postional stats

If anyone could offer any advice it would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Ollie from what I could guess just from the graph is that you play a LAG style. It would be normal to have a higher red than blue line.

In other words you steal alot, and go to showdown with less than optimal hands.
