in micro, always? if i hold 27o (or whatever) and it's folded to me on the button, am i invariably raising if stack sizes are comparable? i assume these players are more likely to call or raise with anything, so is it still a move i should make every time?

is this some kind of zen koan? sorry if i was unclear, but i'm generally finding myself unable to pull the trigger on weaker hands on the button. in a field that's looser than average, is it a good strategy overall to raise more frequently in position? what should i be watching out for? are weaker hands worth throwing away most of the time here, regardless of position?

Like most things in poker, it is opponent dependent.

As far as limpers go, there are generally 2 types. One's that float a lot on the flop and ones the play 'fit or fold'. Vs. the one's that play fit or fold you can pretty much raise anything and automatically make money when you c-bet and they fold. Vs. the the ones that call your cbets a lot, you should weigh your raising hands to big-card type hands. This is because since they will be calling your bets a lot you need to have some hand strength as backup.

As for raising against just the blinds there are some other things to consider. Vs tight blinds you can pound on them every orbit until they play back at you. Vs looser ones that you can put them into the above categories and play them as mentioned. Vs players that 3bet you a lot you should probably tighten up your stealing range. At the higher levels you will have adjust your strat vs opponents that play back at you. But because this is the micro's you simply don't need to get into those difficult situations when there is enough easy money to go around.

hope this helps.

know who you're stealing against.. a lot of people say abuse the button and raise with literally any two.. but this is bad.. know you're opponent so you're not just blindly firing because people say to. i pick certain type of hands against certain players..

broadway types against the aggro monkey and loose passives .. if called you can make top pair and c/c 3 streets from monkey or value bet 3 streets against passive.

any two against the nits..

thank you, this is helpful! i'm coming from mostly tournament play, and am having a hard time dealing with the constantly rotating set of new loose players.

with 72 on the button I like to limp after a few ppl have limped, then usually shove any and all wet boards

for a decent answer:

assuming that you have a non ****** image and are not folding to 150% of 3bets then the blinds are like 20/17 or nittier then yes you will show a profit raising to 2.5x with 72o, given you can play flops you will make more profit (i.e. not cbetting all the time - you have 72o remmeber)

no but srsly i don't want to make position raise other wise they might call me with there orios

This is most important factor. Adjust your stealing range according to opponents. Mine varies widely between tables/sessions for this reason. There isn't really a standard, but yeah generally you should be looking to open from button quite a lot when given the oppertunity to do so.
