Hi Guys,

I am pretty much novice and started online poker, I faced below situation so would like the wizards to review my action.

0.01/0.02 Sort-Handed, Hero was MP3 and Villain was BTN
all player types are unknown, my image should be slightly loose player if any (table has started and players haven't played for long, so if others only look at my VPIP at 26%, they may have decided as such)

Pre-Flop:
6s 6h are dealt in my hand
Hero raised 0.06(3bb)
MP3 folded
CO folded
BTN called
SB folded
BB folded

Flop: 3h Qd Jc ($0.15 pot / 7.5BB
Hero checked, Villain bet $0.05(2.5BB), Hero called

Turn: 5c ($0.25 pot / 12.5BB)
Hero checked, Villain Bet $0.09 (4.5BB), Hero Folded

Initial my thought was 2 over on boards so check may be the better action and since villain's action required 25% odds so that call should be reasonable with thinking villain may have attacked my weakness action.
Then 5c was dealt on turn so it does not change much so I checked back then villain best about 30% of pot
my thought was at this point villain was likely to hit Q, J or 3, so only combo should be 6 so 20% may not have been good odds so I folded

I checked the play with equilab but still turn has 32% call would've been the best choice. GTO suggests fold is the best but I am not entirely sure what other people think
How do you guys review this?

Hi, first of all, GTO doesn't work for micro... From NL2 to NL100, you can play exploitatively. Playing against recreational players is simpler than you think. In a single raised pot out of position with 6s6h on a 3hQdJc board, I recommend c-betting 1/3 of the pot. If the villain calls and the 5c comes on the turn, you bet a second barrel at 1/2 , and on rivers that don't pair, you make a pot bet. This strategy is profitable at NL2 because the player pool is weak, and when they only call on the turn, you drag weak ranges. On the river, there's a lot of 3X, JX, and pocket pairs. I can help you with some hands since I used to be a regular player at NL50 and NL100 on Ignition. GL

Understood and appreciate for the advice - yes it make sense that I should not think about GTO, rather than should stick on continue bet and keep insisting strong range at some points.
However, may I ask what you thought about these kind of players' bet ranges? my intuitive feelings are they will check back if they does not hit, and even if I CB'ed with this texture, they would've called only when they hit 3x Jx Qx so I am not entirely sure 2nd barrel would work.

I think you played well by default. 66 is the bottom of your range on the Turn and you don't have to defend that hand.

If you are playing against a recreational player who has a wide calling range preflop, then playing from a small CBet makes sense.

Apologies for the delayed response. To get an idea of the players' range, you should use a tracker. I recommend PokerTracker4. To evaluate the recreational player's range, first, you need to read their statistics and classify them. Then, the hands without showdown or with marginal showdown value should be turned into bluffs. The expected value (EV) of bluffing is higher than taking them to showdown. Recreational players call with weak ranges and draws at 1/2, so their ranges are capped on the river. When you bet pot on rivers, they will fold quite often.

nah.

OP, you're right to be suspcious of this double barrel because it is overbluffed but this is not a good bluffcatcher (underpair with 3 outs, one of which is counterfeit). Straightforward turn fold. wp

The flop cbet is probably not horrendous, but I prefer to check most of my range. Not least because fish won't start overfolding until we cbet larger sizings (50%+) but then we're turning SDV into a bluff, when we have plenty of weaker hands with better draws to put into that range. And if we're firing all our x/c SDV we're burning vs their pairs and floats with still three streets to play.
