If he knew it, it wasn't "douchy." If he knew, he was a willing accomplice to a theft. If you're willing to do that to get 150k, call it what it is. It's equivalent to perky deciding he's going to rob a jewelry store in order to pay Alec and Alec agreeing to be the getaway driver. He is both ethically and criminally responsible.
edit: It sounds in this post like I'm assuming Perky definitely robbed his backer and the only question is whether or not Alec knew. I have no idea what the facts of the matter are, I'm just commenting on the ethics of the hypothetical.
