Hey Guys,

My name is Alec Torelli, and I am trying to compile details of Mark "PerkyShmerky" Lerner's (may be incorrect speling) outstanding debts to fellow poker players. Personally, he owes me $85,000 to which he has claimed that I would never receive.

I would like other fellow poker players to come forward with their outstanding debts and what percentage they would settle for, accounting for personal circumstances, expectation, etc. Please include evidence of your claims or indication thereof.

Thank you,
Alec

He owes me $40k from a private game he used to play in NYC... I know where he lives in the city and have seen him out at parties, but when I confront him, he dodges the subject... Obv using legal means to collect the debt is a bit more difficult but the debt is not enough where I would use other means to collect. I have quite a bit of information about him & his family if you want to persue this further...

It was something along the lines of:

Alec, are you sure you want to talk bad about perky with your past dealings? you could lose your reputation and place on the ethics committee of the epic poker league.

doesn't matter what you saw. it is possible others will read the thread. although unlikely if you keep clogging it with this pedantic shizzle.

He can't send/recieve PM's as he's a new member. You could ask a mod to help you out.

One of the best punishments is to make this public to all. One of those 'xxxx is a scammer.com' sites is a good start with a link sent to every person, family and friend, that knows him. I would obviously give him adequate warning about doing this, however, but should he remain unwilling to try and make right the situation (within reason), then his name and reputation should be forever tied to his stealing. If he is unable to pay right now, but shows he is truly committed to making the cause right, I don't think you should take such steps, but that is probably not what is happening here.

Super suspect how there are all these brand new accounts posting itt. It sure seems like Alec has been engaged is some shady behavior himself the way the threats are being worded. Alec, rather than the tiny OP, care to really be clear on the facts of the whole situation?

Do we really want people like Perky to be punished?

why in the world do people feel the need to pipe in with this sentiment every time? seriously, EVERY SINGLE TIME there's a thread about someone being scammed it'll be the same thing.

you think hs players are gonna see your post and say 'oh hey i never thought of that!' and suddenly be all the wiser, never lending money to dodgy people again? or did you just wanna come off as an intelligent poster?

the reason why some poker players are naive with $ is beyond obvious to anyone with a brain, im sure if you think about it for a few mins you'll realise. that is unless you already knew the answer and just posted for the hell of it

As a long term thing getting involved and tied up in shady dealings or arguments just soils your own reputation even by association. If your young and your future is ahead of you then you probably dont want things like this to come back and bite you in the ass 5, 10 years from now. If you can let it go you probably should. Not that perky or anyone should get away with non repayment of debts but is he really worth your time?

Dont lend him money again.

The main idea with exposing people like this is not to punish them, it's to prevent them as much as possible from scamming others.
