I have found that 100nl is the highest limit that runs around the clock on all major sites. It's also the highest limit where regs are happy to play other regs.

Once you get to 200nl, games won't run round the clock, but at peak times you will still get a reasonable number of games running. Regs start to avoid each other (because they are more aware of their edge/ability in relation to the field) and games generally won't run without fish.

Above 200nl, it's a lot worse: very few games, games either don't run without a big fish, or if they run (eg. 500nl zoom), they are incredibly tough.

Its really not that hard to make some pool calculations on when its teh best time to play (hint: it may or may not be wise to measure amount of 1tablers vs rest)

Anyone else find the new Stars logo fairly vomit-inducing?

It feels like Amaya are trying to piss me off with every last detail.

Spoiler:
maybe it's just my hate for change

i fully understand why people hate starting tables. 2reac + hitman + aloha are insufferable *******s. So much time/energy is just rejoining tables because these nobheads cant do simple seat selection + grimming + table camping. No idea how many times i have to report them before **** gets done

Poker dies because of AI, and your decision is to change to forex. Makes sense..

We have the moneys, we have the time... If the future gets even darker, you can use some of both to learn Forex (or whatever you want to do next).

I know its not easy, but I feel that if I put the effort and get a nice coach/school, its doable.

Real jobs? Your going to have to think long and hard before going down that road.

In all seriousness, I'm sure you'll be fine. Best bet would likely be to focus more on whatever contacts you have through friends or family rather then sending out CV's as 'poker player 2012-2015' may be a deal breaker for many employers. But if you can sell yourself well enough to the right person you'll get a shot. Only need to get lucky once, GL.

I haven't got experience of this, but I'd imagine that it shouldn't be too difficult to explain a gap of a few years when you're 18-25 years old. Any older than that starts to look dodgy. The problem is that big unexplained gaps on your CV look like you've been in prison/mental institute, and no employer wants to hire someone with a criminal record or someone who is mentally unstable.

Whatever you do, don't say "I tried activity X (doesn't have to be poker - could be day trading, starting a business etc.), but I decided it wasn't for me/wanted a change of direction". Any employer will immediately think to themselves "well this guy is clearly a failure/didn't try hard enough, why would it be any different if he worked for me?". Instant rejection.

Somehow you've got to spin it into a positive. Don't elude to anything about failing or not being good enough.

I've been working as a short-term trader since black friday. Can confirm annually there's probably more $ in trading for a smart/skilled/aggressive trader, but you have to tolerate wayyyy more volatility in income than a small stakes grinder. I was under the impression a good/nitty trader could bang out "consistent" money every day/month, but that's definitely not how things go. You get a couple of days a quarter to really put up a huge number and everything else is a wash.
