It's amazing how certain hands stay with us. I still remember this gem from about 15 years ago.

1/2 game at the Hard Rock. I'm involved in a hand with some young guy who was very "blinged out"

The flop was 765 all clubs, and I was IP and had AJcc. I don't recall the exact actions, but on the river, villain went all in on 765XX, and I snap call.

He stands up, and very emphatically says, "Straight!"

This was funny for two reasons...

1. A straight wasn't the nuts.
2. He actually just had A4o

Vegas trip report: doesnt seem like I have COVID, won $300 on blackjack, lost $1k on poker. Had a great time overall.

So let this be a lesson: if you work hard, exercise good bankroll management, and avoid tilt, you can make it as a pro blackjack player

As someone who has probably played 20k+ hands of blackjack this year chasing various bonuses, I can attest that I have a much harder time with avoiding tilt and managing my bankroll here than I do at poker.

I have had +/- 10K swings on 3 separate occasions. Each time I nearly vomited at the thought of pissing away that much money. I have a real hard time passing up +EV casino bonuses even if the risk of ruin is insane. And after 5 times in 20 hands of doubling an 11 vs. a 6 and losing all 5, I'm ready to smash my phone.

The lunar eclipse is/was pretty badass! It's been clear skies where I live, so we got a great view. I can only imagine what it would have been like to see this 50,000 years ago.

One of the coolest things I ever did was skipping the first day of class in college to drive down to the solar eclipse with some friends to experience totality
