The games were insane tonight. It was like most of the players in the 50 Zone pool were recs. I haven't seen so many punts in a long time.

Meanwhile I'm bluffing off stacks to degenerate nits on 50 Blitz, toughest game I've ever seen it though, tbh.

Anyone have any recommendations for some good free poker video content to help with overall modern game strategy. I’m looking to build upon some of my recent reading but do not feel like subscribing to anything at the moment.

I remember people saying that this guy plays pretty well, but I haven't watched his videos:

https://www.youtube.com/c/CharlieMurphyPoker

Neuron's videos are a little bit old, but his game was pretty modern even in 2018:

Also, you can sometimes catch strong players playing on Twitch.

Well January sucked... +.31 evBB/100 in 49,166 hands for my worst month so far. I ate a 19 BB downswing after a fast start to the month, but have mostly recovered.

I am done working with GTO Wizard's trainer for awhile. I think I have been neglecting to make a lot of anti-human plays and playing some GTO crap instead. There are so many spots where the solver says a play sucks, but the play is quite excellent in practice. In my LHE career, I always got bad results when I tried to play too theoretical. When I focused on exploitative play, I always crushed. Maybe I am just meant to be an exploitative player which is fine. Instead of working with the GTO trainer, I am going to be rewatching all of Tariq Haji's RIO videos. His playing style makes a lot of sense to me, and he crushes the games I want to crush.

Another goal this month is to make a little bit of progress repairing my terrible red line. Mine sits at -13.26 BB/100 which has to be a major leak. So this month I want to do better than -10 BB/100 which still sucks, but should still yield better results. I have some ideas that should help without making my play too artificial.

Good luck this month, everyone! And best wishes dealing with these incoming winter storms. I expect to lose 2-3 days to power outages myself.

GTO is technically the best possible play for the given situation. If someone is getting OOL, the theory should indeed change. GTO Wizard isn't training you to be GTO. It's training you how a GTO robot plays against a GTOrobot. Aka, the baseline for being unexploitable in any situation long-run. Obviously you need to deviate if you want to make money since poker is a zero-sum game. Negative-sum factoring rake.

These sites are also making the games a lot harder. And robots are only getting faster at using them to make decisions. I swear there are GTO bots at ACR tables that have half a dozen bet sizes on different boards.

Good luck!

That's some great volume in a month. Are you playing high speed type tables? If not, how many tables are you playing at once then and how long per day? Just curious as I'm trying to increase my own volume but with a full time job and on a site with no fast tables, I can't do more than 4 tables tops and still play my best.

That's funny, the algorithm just started to recommended some of his older Play and Explains.

They were really good.

Having a senior moment.

When the EV line is above the Green line, that means we're running good or bad?

That's funny, because my EV is above my green so far for the month (tiny sample), but I honestly feel like I've run decent so far.

Shows what I know.

ACR has been notoriously unsuccessful at combatting cheating... a lots of botting, collusion, and hole card sharing. Haizemberg has an active NVG thread about it right now:

Yes, I play 2 fast fold tables at a time for 400ish hand/hr. I average 4 hours/day or so, but it varies a lot. Regular speed tables are supposed to be way better for improvement. I just really enjoy fast fold and have attention span issues. It's nice to be able to take little 5 minute breaks without worrying about the game breaking while I am gone. I don't miss getting stuck at tables for hours because I have position on an 80 VPIP whale with a big stack.

Complaining about this is a bit baffling to me. This is the dream.

I used to legitimately hate it and would always wish that he would leave so that I could end my session lol. I just don't like feeling forced to play for hours on end and worrying about breaking the game if I take a short break. I am the guy who gets up and wanders around the casino every 60-90 minutes when I play live. Unless, of course, the game is shorthanded and insanely soft. Then it's time to torture myself and sit there til it breaks. It's a big reason I enjoy fast fold poker so much even if it costs me money and forces me to play lower stakes.
