Float turns more when recs probe, and then just bet like 70 to 80 percent with your bluffs if they check the river.

They like to stab and then give up when called.

You can even raise pretty often if they bet like 1/2p on the river.

Similar to how if you’re mostly playing poker I would prioritize multitasking capability in my computer over raw power (more cores in CPU, more RAM, SSD, etc). If you plan on running a lot of sims yourself having a really nice CPU is really important, but if not, you can maybe save some $
I'm looking at used laptops at the moment, and have decided that i will build my own gaming rig over the next few months..

I will just play poker with the laptop - PT4, GTO+.. Bit of light browsing - Youtube.. Reddit etc etc

How would these specs hold up?

Dell XPS 13 9300
Intel i7
16 gb ram
Intel iris graphics
1tb ssd

That seems perfectly fine. I’m currently playing on a laptop much shittier than that and it runs 4 tables of bovada + HUD + jurojin fine.

What kind of i7 btw? Like the exact numbers about the i7? There’s a huge range of quality in i7s.

Cobra Kai is back! I have only watched the first two episodes of the new season, but I continue to feel like this is the best show out there at depicting just how horribly teenagers treat each other lol. It's hilarious, nostalgia inducing, and the old school karate is a nice break from the MMA era.

I started my transition from LHE to NLHE on May 23. My results for 2021 are as follows:

Total evBB/100: +4.28 over 380k hands

25NL Zone evBB/100: +4.83 over 201k hands

50NL Zone evBB/100: +3.78 over 169k hands... pretty safe to say I successfully moved up from 25NL Zone!

200NL Zone evBB/100: +.44 evBB/100 over 10k hands lol... hey, I gave it a try!

On August 2, I started using GTO Wizard regularly. My results since then are +5.38 evBB/100 over 241k hands. Before that, I just watched RIO videos and never did any solver work. Needless to say, GTO Wizard will remain a big part of my improvement plan in 2022.

2022 Poker Goals:

1) 5+ evBB/100 at 50NL Zone
2) Move up to 200NL Zone permanently and win 2+ evBB/100
3) 45k hands per month, 100ish monthly hours of study

My long-term goal has always been to become a 5+ evBB/100 winner at 200NL Zone, and my target date is May 23, 2023 (2 years since switching to NL from LHE). 500NL Zone is obviously the dream though. I feel that if I become a significant winner at 500NL Zone, the sky is really the limit. But unfortunately, LHE pros almost never succeed at high stakes in the big bet games.

Oh, and I won 5.43 evBB/100 in December over 44k hands. My connection and software problems seem to have gotten much better, so hopefully I can keep it up from here.

Do you think this is sustainable long term?

Should be about 200 hours / month with play + study? Unless you play way more hands/h than I do. (I'm at 450, two zoom tables)
If you play 20 days / month, that's 10 hour days.
If you play 24 days / month, that's still 8.3 hour days, with only 1 day of rest each week.

Even if you play 1000h/h (4 tables?)
That's still 145 hours / month total
7.25 hour days if you play 20 days, which seems much more reasonable than the above, but still exhausting pushing yourself mentally like that

Yes, I play about 450 hands/hr 2-tabling Zone so it is 200ish hours/month of play + study. I find most of it fun, so it is very doable for me. I have been slightly ahead of that pace for over 7 months now, and it seems to work well for me. I will be playing against pros who have many thousands of hours of play and study behind them, so I have to put in a lot of hours if I want to catch up to them.

Intel graphics have a big issue with their drivers. They don't seem keen on fixing it.

I was a pro mid-high LHE player from 2008-mid 2021, but don't want to waste any more time on an old, dying game. So I am focusing all of my energy on learning NL. I consider myself a poker bum until I start beating 200NL for a decent hourly.

Hey folks. Happy New Year! Looking for a recommendation on a good modern NLHE book. Trying to start the New Year off with a new dedication to studying and trying to move up.

I haven't read a poker book in a decade but heard good things about Matthew Janda's "applications of no limit hold'em" so I asked for a copy as a christmas gift. I read the foreword, and am not sure when I'll get to more.

I've heard good things about the Brokos book and Michael Acevedo book.
