without history you dont know if he's aggressive. if you do know he is aggressive then think about this: what does he think of you, what kind of hands and actions has he seen you do? have you been folding much at that table? have you been calling down light? etcetc... go into the HU mode of what he expects you to do, and do the opposite.

edit: nevermind I just realized he didnt donk, but you checked to him and screwed up

Last edited by bigacsiga; 03-04-2010 at 10:52 AM. Reason: i dont get it why you check tho?? it puts you in a meh spot like this
03-04-2010 , 10:52 AM
Hm, I dislike without history... I think.

I think he's very often barrelling F&T there with overs +FD. Don't think he's barrelling river with an overpair w/o a club or with pure air as a standard, vs someone without history.

edit: lol I misread HH as well, why did you check flop? Seems meh. Still dislike though

lem, i checked the flop because I did't want to b/c (or b/3b), i don't think he thinks i ver have a flush draw when i c/c, therefore i c/c the turn, by flop call is in his eye i think like Tx mostly where obv there is 1/4 chance the other card is a club (the Tc is on board) so I think he continues on this river as a bluff alot and worse for value

so basically went out to watch some football yesterday, ended up at some random casino playing some 100nl with some live people

1/2 wierd looking mexicans with moustaches that were shortstack
1 woman who knew some random fat dealer
1 irish person who was nice
4 large people balding
me

a few questions

1) a few hands ago woman UTG1 3bets a UTG min raise to 8, BTN makes it 20. woman calls
flop is like 882tt woman shoves for like 50 with JJ, gets snapped with Jacks by villain

later on villain plays a pot where he bets 55 on a 622tt44t board on the river and gets called by 63o, villans walks away

women says 'hit and run specialist'
i say 'didn't he just lose?'

is this unethical

thanks

Hm. If you think he ever does valuebet the river with J, I think it may be fine. I'm not sure if he's ever valuebetting worse because your line might as well consist of some overs+FD that don't wanna be raised off or felted on flop, but wants to play with decent equity vs a wide range.

If you think he's capable of bluffing 4th club there vs you check/calling turn, then it looks ok.

I'd still prefer to cbet it though... If he's v aggressive and raising cbets a lot then checking is fine some of the time I'd say.

due to the load of bad advice on the forums, i suggest that 2p2 should apply the youtube posting system, where users can rate comments and if their score goes down enough, the post is hidden.

thoughts?

Meh... There are some really good pokerplayers on this forum who keep posting in smallstakes forums and stuff in a somewhat aggressive/arrogant manner, but they give out solid advice. I wouldn't want to miss these guys tbh. If you can't man up and take some aggressive criticism, then you're not made for the game anyway...

however there are some yokels who are BE at like 25nl but have the biggest ego ever who annoy me (this isnt aimed at anyone specifically)

Meh let them have their ego... It doesn't hurt if there are a few bad regs lurking around.

I mean, all in all, poker is about you trying to make money. If you want to make money, you want to learn and improve... And if you see that there are a few guys who post bad advice, you can learn a lot from these people actually. You just have to be able to ignore aggressive stupid comments from them -- because you know you're a better poker player than they are.

Obviously, we all get annoyed because of some of these guys from time to time... But all in all it's a great addition to the forums. -- (edit: ) poker/money/+EV-wise obviously
