IMO not everybody has the right "brain" for poker, you need to be very analytical in your approach, you need to be able to take in lots of information and understand how each piece effects the problem and from there find a solution. I dont think that part of poker can be taught and I think it separates the best from the average/bad.
The good players analyze each situation thoroughly and understand minute differences in one hand to the next, bad players try to apply cookie-cutter and "learned by heart" solutions and lines to hands.
