So I walk into my local San Diego card room last night and after being there like 30 minutes someone mentions that one of the other tables is running a NLHE game with $25/$50 blinds and $200 antes. $200 ANTES?!?! That is higher stakes than any of the usual games there. This place, Palomar Casino, is literally a hole in the wall in the ghetto with 9 tables....most of which spread 300NL games. So, I finally look over at that table to see what the deal is and there is Tony Esfandiari playing. Awhile later, I notice there is another table that is running $25/$50 Pot Limit Omaha with Phil Laak playing in it. I guess they actually shot a commercial for Palomar earlier that day.

Must be a button ante. Instead of everyone at the table putting in $20 each and every hand and having to deal with piles of small chips, people forgetting, etc., they just make the button put in a single $200 ante.

I don't think so. I asked a couple of different dealers who had rotated through. I believe everyone was putting in $200 per hand. One of the new dealers there had moved out from Vegas and worked as a dealer at Bellagio. She said that type of game actually got spread quite regularly. The interesting thing is that in a game of that structure the blinds don't even matter other than for the house to get its cut since it doesn't even affect bet sizing really due to the antes.

I also got the impression that Tony really didn't want to miss a hand as I saw him practical sprint to and from the bathroom a couple of times. A forced $200 ante would be a good reason for that.....or a serious bladder infection.

Holy crap, that's a huge game.

Yeah, the blinds are totally meaningless. Is there some rule in SD about maximum limits they spread? Like if there's nothing higher than 25-50 allowed by law or by rule, this would be a way to get around it.

That's the equivalent of like, what, 750/1500? 600/1200? A "sandard" size stack in the game would be around $150000.

I remember reading an article about when he was coming up through the games in the Bay Area. I don't recall too many details from the article, except that when he was on the way to the card room for a session, he'd stop at Whole Foods and drop like $200 or organic produce for his lunch. His attitude being, hey, if you've got $20k on the table in front of you you don't want to be worrying about lunch. Heh.

its soooooooooooo ghetto. 0cean's looks like the Venetian compared to this place.

Prostitutes some time come in and offer the players back massages during the games.

If you haven't checked 24 from atleast season 3 it just ain't worth it

You are just missing way to much vital information about jack bauer (and everybody) imo

its amazing how deep the writers go,
season 1 and 2 comes together in season 3,
season 1 till 6 comes together into season 7

They must stop at season 8, I think

jack bauer is going to die in next season
