Hear, hear!

The actors are good, and Willem Dafoe does an incredible role as the gay detective. The plot and the execution are just above mediocre, which makes it a good but not a great movie. Casting has found just the right people for the roles, even the two brothers are insignificant individually but make up for a memorable pair together.

Why is it that the entire Hollywood can produce at most 2 really good films a year? And to follow up, why is it that in this vast pool of mediocrity any film that even bobs above the sea of slosh is treated as a major work of art?

Is it really enough to have a contrast without being bright enough?

I really think it's only because they make movies to entertain people
Most people don't care about how good a movie is, they just go to the movies to have a fun time haha
and once in 2 years they have to make a good movie to keep the movie lovers happy

I think something like this wont happen to me anytime soon, will it?

The thing that makes the picture for me is him shoving all in, haha. It's so great.

The surprising thing is, my wife got totally hooked on it. We're watching the first season, think tonight we'll be up to Ep 20 or so. Looking forward to the other seasons

As for BE stretches: I stopped counting hands. Let's just say it's 4 months.

Yeah, someone at the tables last night said something about sharks, and I got Mack the Knife/Der Moritat von Mackie Messer in my head. Ended up putting Lotte Lenya's version on loop. I don't speak a word of German but, or perhaps thus, it got me rev'd up.

The best English recension is Louis Armstrong's imo.

I still don't know why I had to study Brecht in college to get an English degree but I liked it.

But for Ivey, here's the more obscure verse I quoted in English

Quote:
And some are in the darkness
And the others in the light
But you only see those in the light
Those in the darkness you don't see
As you can tell, it's better in the German.

(BTW, am I the only one who remembers an old SNL skit were they performed a Vegas lounge act of songs translated "from French into English, back into French, and back into English"? Funny stuff....)

Always hard to translate lyrics...

What the hell happened to the twoplustwo.com main page? There's no links to the forums on the left side.

and the swing continues

So, alltho you can't really say when you are in a downswing or not.

I am at 30bis at the moment

Well, they say a downswing makes you a better player so I guess I am HU against Daniel negraeanu in the future

it will never end, or I just have to close my poker client for good, probably that's where FTP is aiming for
02-15-2009 , 01:15 PM
Yeah, better thus:

Quote:
There are some who are in darkness
And the others are in light
And you see the ones in brightness
Those in darkness drop from sight
02-15-2009 , 01:18 PM
A 30BI downswing isn't plausible on purely statistical grounds imo.
02-15-2009 , 01:19 PM
So.. you say it's not possible to have a 30bi downswing?

little bit lol, ty for that
02-15-2009 , 01:19 PM
In my earlier rendition of Brecht I replaced fins with teeth... oh well
02-15-2009 , 01:21 PM
At what point does 'downswing' turn into 'not a winning player/can't beat the limit'? Just curious.
02-15-2009 , 01:22 PM
I didn't mean to say it's impossible. I say that I strongly suspect tilt to play a major role here though.
02-15-2009 , 01:40 PM
Well, no, it's not from steam, I don't tilt that easy.
But if you say it's from steaming I can't be pretty sure you never have gone trough a very big downswing

I hope it will never happen to you. But "running worse then you could ever imagine", is really "running worse then you could ever imagine"

your reaction makes me tilt tho, nice job
02-15-2009 , 01:44 PM
It was supposed to make you take a break, sorry mate.
02-15-2009 , 01:45 PM
Well, without knowing somebody and saying he isn't downswinging but spewing money because he is tilting, really isn't that nice
02-15-2009 , 01:47 PM
Please accept my apologies.
