Hear, hear!
The actors are good, and Willem Dafoe does an incredible role as the gay detective. The plot and the execution are just above mediocre, which makes it a good but not a great movie. Casting has found just the right people for the roles, even the two brothers are insignificant individually but make up for a memorable pair together.
Why is it that the entire Hollywood can produce at most 2 really good films a year? And to follow up, why is it that in this vast pool of mediocrity any film that even bobs above the sea of slosh is treated as a major work of art?
Is it really enough to have a contrast without being bright enough?
